| Apple devices not connecting to router or takes long time..
So I work in a hotel and half the guest who complain about the hotels WiFi are all apple devices (iPhones/iPads). Soemtimes taking 1-2mins.. So we are basically staring at each other... lol so awkward..
My laptop and android phones connects no problem...
My friend suggests that apple uses their own IP address protocols first, then uses the unix/linux based protocols and suggest our tech to use an apple router then the problem will go away... Is this true? If not, anyone know the solution?

What system do you guys have?
My family's hotel had similar problem (not particularly i-devices)... we moved to a commercial grade Cisco setup and problem solved.

i've noticed with a lot of routers, apple products have issues on channels higher than 7.
if you can control your wifi channel, try setting it to 7 or lower and see if the number of complaints drops

our hotel is at around 75-85% capacity last few months.. its was fine before.. but the sudden explosion of people from asia with apple devices have climbed...
the funny thing last night, some asian dude came to the front desk saying he cant connect and asking if something wrong with the internet... so Im helping him, then another guys comes up, asked for password to the wifi, I hand him the card, he pulls out his blackberry tablet.. 5-10secs, he says thanx and walks away.. the dude with the ipad looks at him and then stares at me while is ipad still looking for ip address...

Without knowing the router device you're running, it's difficult for us to assist you.

I dont have access to the roof top, our TV and internet is all located topside...
there is a smaller computer room that I can get into... I see FortiGate-80C/CM Network Security Platform Cisco DPC3825
I believe this is just for lobby area.. the ones for the room/floors are connect directly into the main computer room roof top..
Is is true that the apple devices have a setting to change how it uses the ip protocols?

Cisco device looks like its the shaw modem.
Fortigate looks like the firewall.
There should be other devices which guest connect to for wireless
