Mostly dust, not smoke. Dust blown and billowing upward from the blast. Concrete dust, drywall dust... everyday dust that piles up on things...

And yes, some accelerants do produce white smoke as well. I believe it's been reported that the bombs used "reloading powder", such as that used to reload ammunition... that type of powder does produce white or light-grey smoke.

They are also what separate traditional news organizations from social media such as Reddit, 4chan and Facebook. On the latter sites, you can stay anonymous and shout whatever you want to the heavens, and people will listen to you.

There was a female Redditor from Toronto who got assaulted. However, someone saw her post pictures of herself with zombie makeup on, and her posts on Gonewild-it was unilaterally decided that she was faking it. She got death threats and had to post a video proving the wounds were real. Witchhunts and jumping to conclusions only ruin lives, as so tragically demonstrated.

The article said that he was already missing since last month - it could be completely unrelated to the bombing.

Yes, but his name popped up in the subreddit /r/findbostonbombers and Redditors harassed his family.

I agree that the internet didn't directly kill him, but they made his family's life a living hell. And that's just as bad.
