China's Latest Food Scandal: Rat and Fox meat sold as Lamb at farmer's markets.

China's food supply cleanliness is in the news again. A horrific food safety scandal about 904 suspects arrested for taking meat from rats and foxes and selling it as lamb.

The criminal ring ran in Shanghai, and in the province of Jiangsu.

I know now why tour guides in China only take you to government approved restaurants for meals.

No KFC, or McD's in China for me. -might get a ratburger or a bucket of fox meat.

-thankful that Health Canada and our Vancouver health inspectors ensure our food supply is much more safer than the food in other countries.

Is anyone surprised at all?

As an aside, there has long been rumours of vendors using dog meat to sell as lamb, and the source of these dogs are often/always stray dogs.

its actually been brought up months ago (separate but like incident) where the perpetrators were soaking the rat meat in sheeps piss so that it would taste like lamb

yeah, China... They used cardboard as the dumpling skin. They also reused oil that's already been dumped...

Sitation is pretty bad in India; there's a major issue with the supply of milk because most milk is "synthetic" milk which is made from fertilizer and chemicals.

This is an age old problem, why do u think curries are so full of spices? It's bc back in the day, the poor got the old, rotting pieces of meat from questionable animal supplies, so they covered it with loads of spices to mask the taste.

Don't get me wrong, curry is my favourite food in the world, but it's origins show that bad meat is an age old problem.

I don't eat much meat, generally, I especially wouldn't eat much at all through street vendors in china or dodgy looking restaurants

I wouldn't mind trying fox meat at all...i guess they are more abundant in parts of China than lamb?
