LGs in tiny shorts and good food. Aw yeah, good times at the night market. :awwyeah:

Mr.HappySilp 05-09-2013 07:52 PM

I wonder do I have to pay at the night market this year.........

dinamix 05-10-2013 08:52 PM

Anybody go today? How is it

kakucaekz 05-10-2013 11:36 PM

Went today at about 10 or 10:30, lineups for the Rotato or Hurricane potato or whatever were long, as expected lol. Still good though, only managed to get a couple things to eat and a bubble tea. Not too crowded, I'm sure that'll change later on. Gotta come back a few more times and try more of the food and waste money on stuff I don't need lol. Wonder how the River Rock one will be next week.

importantLS 05-10-2013 11:39 PM

^that dim sum corner place upgraded to moniter menu items haha!

skiiipi 05-11-2013 12:00 AM

How are the LGs? isnt that the main point of the night market :p?

Fcukedd 05-11-2013 12:52 AM

SpeedStars 05-11-2013 09:16 AM

LGs didn't stay out pass 11 :okay:

I expected the foods to be more diverse this year, but there were plentiful stalls selling almost the same things for the same prices. [EG: 3 skewer stalls] Some of the merchandising stores were reluctant to haggle as well.

BurnoutBinLaden 05-11-2013 10:10 AM

I thought haggling was the norm in Asia; what changed?

Additionally, I hear food prices have gone up from the last time I was there (2008).

Overall, is the night market (free or paid) worth it?

wingies 05-11-2013 10:49 AM

its never worth it, lol you can easily blow 30-40 bucks on food without being full. $5 here and there and it adds up quick

To be fair, price for basically everything have gone up since 2008.

Bridgeport location is free whereas Riverport is paid.

I much prefer the Riverport location with that said.

drunkrussian 05-11-2013 12:09 PM

Klondike 05-12-2013 11:02 PM

At 4 dollars per, I don't know that I would.

melloman 05-13-2013 09:28 AM

^^ Yup. Was sad to see that price go through the roof.

Bubble Waffles = 1x$4. 2x$7.
Skewers have jumped to 5x$11.

Yet my Gyozas didn't change. 10x$5.75 :toot:

The food carts at the Chinatown one include Vij’s Railway, Roaming Dragon, Le Tigre, Tacofino, and Mogu

Just went this Sunday. Not a lot open yet so it wasn't that busy.
Was easy to find a parking spot.
And I spotted Chengman and Papachew (from YouTube).
lol

Verdasco 05-14-2013 09:36 PM

mark my words.... with the uproar of hipsters living around GM place / Chinatown, the nightmarket there will be huge again one day..... Who here have remembered the nightmarket being 2-4 blocks long a long time ago????

Purely 05-14-2013 10:19 PM

I'm surprised Chinatown night market is still alive.. been dead these past years. It's nice to see more vendors are supporting it!

SpeedStars 05-14-2013 10:22 PM

^ They had some good RC toy cars up in Chinatown. Also some authentic chinese food in Chinatown.

Can't check out either the riverrock one or chinatown one cause of work this week :okay:

rocksforsale 05-14-2013 10:42 PM

fliptuner 05-14-2013 11:07 PM

Taking a close female friend of mine to one of the two nightmarkets this Saturday. Can't decide on which one to go to though. The International Night Market is the one we always used to visit, and we've never been to the Richmond Night Market. Can anyone chime in on the pros and cons of each?

Its no comparison for me.

The one by riverrock wins by a mile vs. the one by ikea.
