$250000 Nissan GTR Horror Story

Forged Performance: The Truth ! - Vendor Reviews - GT-R Life

Quote:
The Truth About Forged Performance

This is going to be a long winded review, but my experience spans over a 22 month timeframe and I am still dealing with the repairs as I write this. I feel it is important to notate all of the details in order to properly warn my fellow GT-R owners. I would never want anyone to have to go through what I have experienced over the last couple of years.

Here are the cliff notes for anyone who doesn’t want to read the entire detailed experience”

• 22 month project
• Over $250,000 spent at Forged Performance
• Countless lies and broken promises
• 300 whp below goal
• Engine failure before delivery
• Transmission failure shortly after delivery
• 2nd Engine failure upon teardown
• Hacked up turbo kit
• Overcharged for the performed work
• Horrible craftsmanship
• Shoddy work
• FP refused to compensate me for the troubles or refund me

I dropped my car off to start my project with Forged Performance back on March 3rd of 2011. I had originally intended to build this project in a couple of stages because I wanted to enjoy my car over the summer. I already had all of the basic bolt on modifications as well as a stock frame AMS turbo upgrade, and a moderately modified transmission with upgraded clutches, but I wanted a noticeable power increase over what I was currently making. All of the previous work was also done at Forged Performance. After discussing the project with Sharif, he recommended the HKS GT800 turbo kit. We had planned to keep the motor and transmission untouched for the time being as the car would be making its way back up to Forged in the fall for the engine and a full transmission build.

Forged from all my years browsing the VQ forum is probably the most respected Nissan tuner in North America..... like they're the guys that everyone on the forums recognize as pretty much the best shop out there.....

so ouch for them, interesting in seeing how they respond not just verbally, but via action as well, whether they straighten this out make it right and whatnot

their craftsmanship is well documented though though, dudes at that shop are highly skilled, if they did fck this GTR up that bad, something must've went REALLY wrong

OP, Get Lynda Steele from CTV on your side. Perhaps some media exposure on this corrupt company can put some heat on them. Steele on your side would at least warn other potential customers to stay away from this place.

G-spec, click the link and look at the pictures. Piss poor craftsmanship I'd expect from a highschooler or backyard weekend mechanic

They supposedly had a complete change in staff in the time the car was there, so I suppose that the next guy to take hold of the build had no idea where the last guy left off, and it started a rolling ball of fuckry.

This was absolutely insane for them to fuck up so badly considering the money the owner put in.

I don't get why you would've put a turbo kit which is designed for RHD and modded to fit LHD?

^ Maybe he meant he doesn't get why Sharif would have thought that it would have been okay to use a RHD kit on a LHD car

Either why, these stories make me angry to know that there are shop owners out there who are still doing crap like this, and try to get away. Only when they are put to public shame are they trying to rectify the situation and try to "save face".

That's sickening!! Worst of all the shop doesn't take responsibility for their work with no refund. Customer service at its finest. Lawsuit that shit or set the shop on fire.

I can't bring myself to feel sorry for someone who can afford $250,000 on modding an already expensive car. However, that is shady business and the shop needs to be held accountable
