Printer Recommendations?

Just curious if any of you guys have experience with a good inkjet or laser printer. Something that prints color and that doesn't die in 6 months. It'll be a printer for photo use, but not like great quality photo. Most likely webcam quality. Also it'll most likely be printing around 60-100 photos an hour? Anything helps! I hope this is in the right section!

Thanks guys!

EDIT: just looking for a printer. Printing times are for about an hour at each time twice a week. Its for a DIY photobooth

Are you looking for all-in-one, printer/scanner/copier type thing, or just strictly a printer?

Color lasers are pretty cheap now, but they're not great for photos.

You will never do 60 to a 100 an hour. More like 40 a hour.

skip the inkjets and and lasers and get a Canon Selphy Canon Selphy Compact Photo Printer (CP900) - Black : Photo Printers - Future Shop . The down sides are it only holds 18 sheets and the ink only lasts for 36 prints. Put you can change it on the fly.

If you want something high end it's going to be $1000 plus but will be 300 to 700 pictures without changing anything and will print in under 15 seconds.

I would imagine a high-output dye-sub printer would probably be what you're looking for.

Laser would work, too, but it would depend on the size of photos. Laser can do webcam quality but you're pretty much restricted to 8.5" x 11" paper (you can get glossy laser paper).

Edit: Ninja'd

I was actually thinking of the Selphy a while back, but at that rate for the ink + paper package at $50 a set. I'll be needing one once a week. Since it is a DIY its not the best atm, and when I do operate the photobooth for events I charge a very low amount. Around $60-$100 for an hour. So generally I'll make $70-150 a weekend. $50 or so going to another kit for the next weekend. Also taking 45 seconds or so to print, maybe a minor set back.

I'm actually printing on 8.5" by 5.5" on light card stock on some old Samsung printer I had l laying around. It's a laser printer, dying out and like 2 out of 10 toner I had, had a manufacture's defect. Too late to return or exchange them. Do you have any recommendations Jmac?

At a $150 for hour how are you making any money? and what happens if your printer breaks down at an event?

Uh, its still kinda in the works, its not automated YET! long story. I have an actual job, this was just a small project of mine. I actually looked up the paper and ink kit. Other places sell it for 10-20 bucks cheaper. So I just might order a bunch. It might actually work. After this investment of a new printer + accessories, photobooth software and a button (to automate it). Im thinking of raising the price to $100 - $150 am hour. Am I asking too much? There are props and a backdrop included. Cost of upgrading it is somewhere in the $300-$500, a rough estimate. Uhm... With my last printer whenever it broke down it would be either a paper jam, wasn't reading the toner or it just thought there was a paper jam -___-. I believe this printer is simpler in the act of printing. I watched a video and it seems like the paper comes from one side goes out the other, back in and out until the photo is done. Doesnt seem like any room for error. And the ink thingy seems like a polaroid style, so no sensor indicating if its full or empty

If you're looking for a cheap investment for a printer why not a full sized ink jet printer?

Something like: Epson WorkForce 60 Inkjet Printer - Product Information - Epson Canada, Limited. Handling

It'll print 4x6 low quality at about 20sec per page. Ink you can buy aftermarket cartridges if you like to bring the cost down. Otherwise you'll need to invest in something more industrial.

Something like these:

HiTi P510L Dye-Sub Photo Printer 88.D1735.00A B&H Photo Video

DNP DS-RX1 Dye-Sub Color Photo Printer RX1 B&H Photo Video

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...10S_6_Dye.html

6"x9" printing cost is about $0.45/print with these guys and about 20 seconds per print (listed, probably a bit more in reality, but should be able to churn out 100/hour).

The printer will do 100 a hour but you will never get a 100 guests a hour threw a booth.

OP check out http://imagingspectrum.com I think they now ship to Canada.

Cost and speed break down. http://www.imagingspectrum.com/print...son-chart.html

Hey man, found this on the buy/sell forums here: http://www.revscene.net/forums/68375...-printers.html

Try those! I'm not associated with that guy in any way but found these while browsing.
