Lamborghini has long been known for its extreme approach to design. Usually those designs are not just striking, but beautiful as well.

Usually.

Here we have the Egoista, apparently designed to echo the look and feel of an open-cockpit formula car as viewed through a kaleidoscope.

Unveiled during an event for the brand's 50th anniversary celebrations--and apparently just to the crowd on hand in Sant'Agata--little else is known about the Egoista except for its origin.

For more photos, check out the growing Egoista collection on Instagram.

UPDATE: The Egoista is essentially a one-off design study, to celebrate Lamborghini's anniversary, and represents "hedonism taken to the extreme."

According to Lamborghini, "The Egoista is pure emotion, Never Never Land, which no one can ever possess, and which will always remain a dream, for everyone."

Stay tuned for more info on the Egoista

I like how extreme it is, not just another cookie cutter supercar. I'd rock it all day, if I had 5 million to burn!

RacePace 05-13-2013 09:17 AM

At least they named it appropriately

wingies 05-13-2013 09:36 AM

is it just me or most of lamborghini new designs look like

That's extreme alright, though that's not exactly a compliment. Lamborghini's design as of late has been too outlandish for me at least, where's the simple sculpted elegance that they used to have with the Murcielago and the Diablo?

Lamborghini should bring back the classic Murcielago and Diablo designs and put in new engine technology. They older designs don't appear to be too dated, and has more character than the new one-off designs that look like fighter jets which are too overwhelming imo. Way too many angles in the new designs I don't even know where to begin looking

I'm more impressed they can build something like that and make it perform the way it's described.

I can draw an outrageous car too, but to be able to build it is something exceptional.

Indyjones 05-13-2013 11:47 AM

I like it. Lamborghini has always been on the cutting edge of design. The Countach wasn't exactly an understated car either, was it? And that was many decades ago.

‘The Egoist’ Is Proof Lamborghini Has Lost Its Mind

Clicky clicky!

Only Lamborghini, a company that has no interest whatsoever in subtlety, could, and would, name a car “The Egoist.” This rolling compensator is a single-seat, four-wheeled birthday present to itself in honor of its 50th anniversary. Start racking up the decades and odd things can happen to your mental faculties. This is 600 horsepower worth of proof.

Don't worry VAG group lets him to have some fun, next week they will send a German over and slap his face to wake him up.

Kidnapman 05-13-2013 04:04 PM

Just put rollers on each corner of the lambo and you got yourself a full scale mini 4wd.

i dont mind the car but i would never buy it , i always see lamborghini as a luxury super car... that design has no elegant lines on it at all, just vents n sharp edges everywhere like as if it was designed with a damn ruler

front end looks like a fork

cressydrift 05-13-2013 08:15 PM

Personally love it. I had the Countach poster when I was a kid, and I think many young boys will have this on their walls as well. I love how its so harsh and sharp that it wouldn't fit in with anything on the roads today. I hope that its not a huge car, and think with this design it would have to be smaller like the BRZ.

Timpo 05-13-2013 10:15 PM

That looks like a KTM XBOW on steroid

Also the whole concept reminds me of this car.

I dont see the Xbow similarities timphoe.

Don't understand why people get so worked up about a 'one-off design study'.
