| Artist Creates Sculptures From Strangers' DNA Using 3D printer
Shits getting creepy. Quote:
3 hours ago, Broken News Daily
Brooklyn art student Heather Dewey-Hagborg has an incredible new project -- creating face sculptures from DNA she finds around the city. She grabs chewing gum, discarded cigarettes and even hair from public bathrooms. She then extracts and translates that DNA into 3-D sculptures. Wild! Watch this video and see if you can recognize your face anywhere

Yahoo's attempt at journalism is awful, don't watch the video; unless you miss lame 90's MTV VJ's, you might enjoy it then.
Instead, I'd suggest looking at the artist's press release and website; http://deweyhagborg.com/strangervisi...ss_release.pdf Heather Dewey-Hagborg |

If you guys like these weird stories. check out Vsauce's (science and wacky info) channel on youtube. Vsauce2 (games, art, tech) covered the dna sculpture too. Vsauce3 is strictly gaming I believe.

See, that to me is fantastic contemporary art.
It's an art piece, that makes you think about real world application, and the thoughts of just how much information you leave about yourself everywhere you go, and the science of it all.
And its a hunk of plastic hanging on a wall.
Art. Fucking cool.

messed up that she can do that with a printer from just a piece of gum or hair...
not sure if I should be impressed with what people are doing, or to be scared at knowing this shit can happen along with the guy who made the plastic working gun from a 3d printer that can get past airport security...
but...if she can make a face......................can she make the rest of the body as well?
for art purposes of course.... |
