he did try to do a few good things.. get rid of the $.05 charge for bags at grocery stores. get rid of bike lanes etc.. but guy is a idiot overall.

Liquid_o2 05-18-2013 01:58 PM

Yah getting rid of the Jarvis Street bike lanes was amazing. It cost the city $300,000 of taxpayer money to return the street to its original form, and in return it reduced vehicle travel times on an average of 2 minutes overall. When the bike lane was in use, there were still 2 lanes for cars each way. And now bikes and cars are sharing the same lanes instead of being separated.

I'm sorry, I know this is a car site but the idiocy of some people is amazing. A bike lane does not automatically mean a bad deal for drivers. Go to Germany which is the land of the automobile and cars, bikes and pedestrians all have their own separated right-of-way.

NMA video is clearly a meth pipe, not a crack pipe

It does if your city is called Vancouver, and your mayor goes by the name Moonbeam.

AV's COIN @AVsCOIN
Does anybody have Rob Ford's phone number. Asking for a friend.

Apparently they are up to $62k raised.

CNN was offered the chance to buy it and turned it down.

So the question becomes, to the Somali drug dealers hold firm on that $200k, or does something like $62 grand sound like a nice haul?

Me, I'm thinking, $62k is a nice chunk of change for probably low level dealers.

And really..,its value isn't going to increase any...I'm thinking already people are probably less wanting to watch it. That shock value is decreasing. Now, its more watching him react to it thats going to be entertaining.

My advice to the Somali Drug Dealers...take the money and run! Don't be greedy. And also, don't be drug dealers. It's bad. But mostly the greed thing.

I heard one report that they originally asked for $1M, and as of Friday the price was down to $100k because nobody was biting.

Considering the Toronto Star is about equivalent to the NY Post (read: one step short of a supermarket tabloid), it's not surprising they'd take the story and run with it while no legitimate news outlets are interested (note: Gawker != legitimate news outlet - the name says it all).

This mayor is the most entertaining mayor ever. He's on the magazines, newspapers all the time because of his behavior

Well well well, what a shock:

News1130 @News1130radio
The Gawker website that raised $200,000 to buy alleged video of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack, now say it might be "gone."

StylinRed 06-04-2013 04:56 PM

Ford obviously bought it himself called it when he came out and made a statement

Soundy 06-04-2013 04:57 PM

News1130 @News1130radio
As for the Rob Ford video $ - from Gawker, they'll "select a Canadian nonprofit that addresses substance abuse issues to receive the money."

Not sure if this qualifies for a :fuckyea: or a :rukidding: or just a

The $0.05 charge for bags is a GREAT idea imo. It is a simple way to get people to use reusable bags.

StylinRed 06-04-2013 05:16 PM

I found T&Ts use of bio-degradable bags to be a far better idea than charging for bags

But that changed when Loblaws took over they're using normal plastic bags and charging a fee for them now

Hondaracer 06-04-2013 05:23 PM

Even if ford bought it himself from some drug dealers you think they wouldn't flip a backup copy for another 200?

This is the problem with drug dealers. So predictably treacherous.

honestly? nope, things aren't always like the movies (im not saying i doubt there aren't those that would do as you suggested mind you)

and as we know, iirc?, multiple news agencies actually watched the video so its not like this is some fake video that never existed or a tabloid spouting bs, so there'd be no reason for the video not to be sold if the moneys there unless it's already been sold

this is what i am confused about....people actually saw it, right? reports (?) "verified" that it looked legit.

I'm not usually a "conspiracy" person, but I could see the owners of the vid being offered more money to "lose" it.
