| Office Chair
Hey guys. I don't know where to post this, but I'm looking into getting a office chair as my current one is crap.
I spend over 10 hrs a day on my desk as i'm a programmer/gamer. I think its time to actually invest in a chair.
Budget is probably no more than 700$. And prefer those who have owned/tried out chair. Prefer to buy locally.
My office has these ones http://www.knoll.com/product/chadwick.
If I can get those locally, it would be great.
I looked at some at Herman Miller, but they're out of my price range.
If anyone actually owns the Aeron, please give me some insight. If it is all that, maybe i'll just fork out the extra 100$ http://store.hermanmiller.com/Products/Aeron-Chair |

Check CL for a Herman Miller if you want. I was looking for an Aeron a while back and noticed a bunch of business bankruptcy's that were selling barely used ones for (relatively) cheap.

If you have that much of a budget, then you really might as well get the Aeron. The one on CL ^ is a pretty good deal.

I had a similar mesh chair and it was great quality, but overall wasn't great to sit on for a whole day.

I love herman miller chairs. Even their lower end $300 office chairs are great.
They last forever.
I own the caper office one with 5 wheels (not on the website) that costco used to sell. No padding or anything, just hard plastic... But super comfortable.

We have both your chairs the Knoll and the Herman Miller at work so I'm sure they'd be available locally. We got a 100 or so of the Knoll. Not sure where they ordered them from.

Thanks guys.
I'll probably keep an eye out for the Aeron chair on Craigslist. My second option is a knoll, but I'm not sure if they sell to consumer. I know they provide to company because they are sold in bulk. Posted via RS Mobile |

I have had my share of experience with high-end chairs (Knoll, HM, Steelcase, Teknion... etc) One thing I could say is, get one with headrest.
The chairs I currently have are Teknion Contessa and Humanscale Freedom. The main reason is that they both have headrest. It might not seem like a big deal. But I spend more than 14hrs on chairs everyday and chairs with HR makes huge difference after a while.

I don't usually rest my head on the headrest, even when I'm driving. As for teknion, I heard the amicus is good. But I don't really like leather. Let me know if u guys find any cheap Herman miller Aeron on Cl. Posted via RS Mobile

I want something where the seat tilts upwards towards the front, so it keeps me seated against the backrest.
And would need the front to be adjustable cause I have short stubby midget legs.

Posted via RS Mobile | I don't either but occasionally I'd sit back and enjoy a good bowl of instant noodle and stream some movies I have heard the same about Amicus. I tried Aeron as well but not my preference. My Visio fully loaded with leather and all options and delivery was roughly 850 i think.

Any chairs anyone would recommend at a $100 budget? I would probably say a comfortable cheap chair for gaming at home. The hardest thing for me to find is an office high back chair that is good priced for me who is 6' tall

its hard to find a name brand chair for $100. your best bet is staples, where they have a lot of house brand chairs in different varieties for cheap.

They are leather (not sure if real), but a lot easier to clean then that crap mesh fabric from super cheap office chairs.

Any place locally to try these chairs out? Would suck to drop top dollar only to not like it after a week or two.

My only beef with the Aeron is the ground clearance is really low. The center post is almost touching the floor and will undoubtedly drag along the carpet. I already have the optional casters for carpet, and it still drags. I ended up buying a chair mat, but because the carpet is so soft, the mat sinks where the wheels touch, and the center post still grazes the plastic mat.
It's designed for thin office carpeting or hardwood, and not thicker carpeting that most homes have.
PS: If you order one, pay the extra $ and get it pre-assembled. Also, the chair is bloody heavy.

You'll love the first impression, but you can only judge it after using it for prolong periods of time. It is still a gamble in a way, that's why I'm looking for second hand now.
