Any Fellow Nerds Hitting Maker Faire at PNE?

Never even knew it was on until I drove by and saw a robot outside the PNE Forum and wondered why all the people were there. Plan on taking the kids - they're really into robots and building things.

Meh, nerds & hippies. Too many hippies and not enough nerds, IMO.

It was alright. Friends participated in it. 3d printing is really blowing up. Going to be a big thing in the days to come. The dragonmech outside was really neat, same with the lego contraptions. solid 7/10.

I could have dropped $1,000 if there was something to buy.

There was one display with quad/hexcoptors which was good, but they didn't have anything for sale. I would have gladly purchased a high-end kit (unlike the Parrot Drones I bought my kids) if they had some ready to go. Likewise my kids were expecting daddy to get them a maze/line following or similar robot kit. Again, nothing really interesting I could buy on-the-spot and take home to play with. Perhaps I should put a booth in next year and make sure I've got lots of kits ready-to-go.

Meanwhile, if I was into arts & crafts there were numerous booths with stuff for sale.

Oh, and the entry fee was high. $46 for me and two kids is way too much for what they had. Well, maybe not. The hotties trying to outdo each other on the hula-hoops was a brief high-point.
