Hammocks

Does anyone here know anything about hammocks?

Not sure what style I want. Looking for something that is comfy and durable and I can hang anywhere as long as I have two posts. I heard good things about the brazillian style.

Looking to score a good one for the upcoming summer local or online doesn't matter.

The only local website/store I could find was the store located on Granville island @ thehangoutplace.com

Any help or recommendations will be appreciated.

I would go for the first link, it's a lot nicer and not much more money.

for some reason I think of this when you are in a hammock

Holy smoke! That is the exact one I bought 2 years ago from the same place. No complaints about it. Works great in hot weather but gets a little chilly at nights. You may need a tighter knit one for nights.

I'm in East Van too, PM me if you want to try it out...I need to dig mine out for the summer.

for camping the henessey hammocks are pretty standard,

i used one while back packing australia and it kept me off the ground from creepy crawlies and snakes.

clark jungle hammocks are also nice as well although pricey.

for the back yard i would personally get one that is free standing and not one that requires anchored posts. it makes life easier when you can move it where ever you want.

if you've got alot of money to spare and want one of the "rolls royce's" of hammocks you should check out a cacoon: Cacoon hanging treehouse for all ages

not quite a traditional hammock but pretty bad ass nonetheless

^ that is pretty sweet, but the best thing about the hammock is laying in it at night and staring at the stars....can't do it in that. Napping on the other hand....FUCK YEA :D

I was at my friends today and they're currently getting stuff ready for a garage sale and out of the blue said they may as well sell the hammock chair they have since they don't have any room for it. Thought of this thread right away and had to grab it off them for a massive $40 and they even have a cup holder for it. They bought it from The Hangout place on Granville Island and said they customer service is great.

Will post pics once I hang it up in a couple days, found my one I bought it Mexico as well so at least I will have a back up if this ones gets messed up.

I got mine at canadian tire. They have lots of different styles and sizes

gars 07-15-2013 09:56 AM

I'm tempted to try this.

It's pretty compact, and it's a good price for both hammock and stand.

Hammocks are amazing, so relaxing with a glass of lemonade and a book.

i won one at a company event. i don't have 2 nearby trees though so i put it in storage. i should see if there's a small stand that would fit it that i can just put out on my deck
