You guys ready for the new Area Code in BC

"Say hello to 236 - B.C.'s newest area code rolled out Saturday for anyone getting a new phone number, joining the existing codes 250, 604 and 778.

In most areas, 236 likely won't be popping up on the caller I.D. right away, said Telus spokeswoman Liz Sauvé.

"It's only going to be given out as it's needed," she said. The new code is in response to increasing demand for phone numbers in B.C.

Sauvé said it's not uncommon for a family to have up to a dozen numbers, with a home phone, work phones, cell-phones and even Internet thumb drives assigned numbers.

I feel that with this, my 778 cell phone number finally has a legitimacy that I've been lacking.

Like it really matters anyways once it's programed in your phone. Who actually remembers friends numbers these days anyways?

I use to remember all my friend's phone number back in high school (15years ago lol) which is a good thing coz we don't need to rely on anything.

Now we rely too much technology, if we lose our phone or if the phone is out of battery we really have no way to get those phone number back....... Is a really bad trend. Soon we won't even remember our own phone number or energency calls phone numbers.......

I guess picking up girls with a 236 # will automatically tell u that shes jailbait

Mike Oxbig 06-08-2013 01:55 PM

This may come as a surprise to you, but there is a whole world out beyond Vancouver and Richmond

I still remember when our house phone was switched from 604 to 250. And my mom still has the number. My grandma remembers when they added the first 3 numbers to turn it from a 4 digit to a 7 digit number too. Shit, we've had the same home phone number in the family for like 60 years lol

Where I grew up we only had to dial the last 4 numbers within our exchange.
