Monthly fee = dead before it even begins

F2P model isn't that much better...just look at how well SWTOR is doing

I wonder which model Elder Scrolls Online will follow...meh MMORPG doesnt appeal to me anyways

SWTOR is making way more money now that they switched. It was either that or shut down the game. In fact I think the only MMOs that are making money are F2P, other than WoW (which is F2P to a point)

I'm going to play regardless of the monthly fees. Makes no difference to me considering how long I've played WoW, and FFXI. This will probably be the last MMORPG I'll ever play.

Yeah I'm not saying it should affect whether you buy it or not.. just that it probably won't last long as a game. Unless the plan is to actually start with a monthly fee then switch later. This is what most modern MMOs have done, although I doubt it was ever planned.

Hmm yeah I can see that. FFXI seems to be dying off slowly too, but they keep coming out with expansions and new material. If they do the same for FFXIV, I think FFXIV may last longer than FFXI. Who knows. I just hope it lasts long enough for me to get bored :D

Speaking of SWTOR, does anyone play? Decided to try it out since I enjoyed KOTOR.

I also played WoW and ffXI the last few years. Still waiting to try the beta for FFXIV. Friggin signed up a month ago and no reply!!

I want to get into the beta as well :( I preordered through gmg and thought it was included, but I haven't found anywhere to register to key or anything.

So far in terms of content and size of the map.... its like only 1/10th of FFXI when it was launched. its gonna be years before it can even reach the content size of FFXI

or maybe its just that fast travel is just too common now in FF14, it loses the sense of the size of the world.

I got accepted to the beta weeks ago but after installation the game wouldn't patch. Sure it's an easy fix but haven't had much time to go about fixing it. Do you guys play on pc or ps3? I also got the ps3 beta key but it doesn't work. I don't really use ps3 much so bit of a noob at navigating.

What's phase 4 about?

Phase 4 is open beta and will start around mid july till mid august. Phase 3 is closed beta and only opens on weekends for the first 3 trial, this weekend is the 3rd weekend, afterwards, it will open for a week until july 14th.

you can treat phase 4 as a free demo/trial for the game, the character process in phase 4 will carry over to the final release.

Looks like subscription will be 12.99$ a month, *edit* after buying the game :PC 29.99$ and ps3 39.99$

Probably gonna get the collectors edition for 79.99$ (ps3) cause it comes with a lot of cool stuff; 80 page art book, bonus discs, soundtrack, in game items, etc.
