*Need computer help*

I know this is kind of a shot in the dark
my PC developed a problem yesterday.

I was on the computer for a bit, and it suddenly shut off on me. I started it back up, everything was fine. I went back into the room 20 mins later and it was off again. I booted it up, and as it got to the welcome screen it shut off once again. I pulled the side off to blow the dust out, and now it wont even boot. I power it up fans kick on, but the light surrounding the power button doesn't turn on.

The computer is a HP M8000 Media Center. Ive had it for several years, never a problem.

Im not techie at all, so any info would be greatly appreciated

I just plugged it in, the fans and everything are all running, and there's a green light on the back that stays on but nothing else works. When I hold the power button the computer doesn't shut down, it needs to be unplugged

I think you may need a new motherboard. It may not be worthwhile fixing.

Yeah, I tried a bunch of thing I read online. Pulling the RAM, and booting, computer did nothing. It will not turn on/off with the power button, only if I plug/unplug it. With how cheap towers are these days, it's not worth fixing at all. Was a damn good issue free computer for nearly 5 years though.

My next question, if I pull the hard drives out, could they just be plugged into another computer to pull all my stuff?

Or is there another way.

TIA

Yeah, just plug it into another computer as a secondary drive or into a USB enclosure. You'll be able to pull everything off the hard drive assuming there was no damage to it.
