From the article:

The new car, codenamed LP724, will likely share its chassis with the next-generation Audi R8, which is due out in 2015. That means a backbone made of lightweight carbon fiber and aluminum.

Lamborghini reportedly wanted to base the Gallardo replacement on the carbon fiber monocoque it developed for the larger Aventador, but parent Audi apparently forced the more sensible platform sharing plan on the Italian carmaker.

The new car will be powered by an updated version of the current Gallardo’s 5.2-liter V10. It’s expected to produce a phenomenal 600 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, compared to the current Gallardo LP560-4‘s 522 hp and 398 lb-ft.

Rival Ferrari has eliminated clutch pedals, but Lamborghini will reportedly offer a six-speed manual in the Gallardo replacement, along with a version of the Audi R8’s seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual.

You missed the most exciting part.

Lamborghini > Ferrari. Screw shaving seconds off a 0-60 time and props to Lamborghini for bucking the trend. At least they still understand how important a manual is to being connected to the car.

6 speed with AWD and 600hp :fuckyea:

I remember back in like 02' when Murcielago's were just pushing 560bhp with 6.2L v12's. So cool to see the engines immense improvement in efficiency over time :)

Murcielago 6.2L V12 560hp = 90hp/L
Gallardo replacement 5.2L V10 600hp = 115hp/L
Honda S2000 2.0L I4 240hp = 120hp/L

Honda technology from 90s still wins :fuckyea:

Mercedes Benz

A45 / CLA 45 AMG 2.0 4 Cylinder 355hp = 177.5hp/L

At the end of the day it's a Lamborghini VS S2000.

It's hard to say since it's not out yet but I would say so.

The GT-R can do 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and laps Nurburgring in 7:18.60 bone stock.

There is no production Lamborghini or Ferrari in the entire history that can come close to that.

The Aventador does similar 0-60mph but its best Nurburgring laptime was 7:25.00. Considering the new Gallardo won't be any faster than the Aventador, I would say it won't beat the GT-R.

If you put it that way then let's bring in all the Brabus AMG's.

At the end of the day it's still a S2000 vs a Gallardo.

Energy 06-20-2013 09:28 AM

It's not fair to compare a NA engine and a FI engine. Apples to oranges. Takes a lot more engineering to get more hp if you don't just strap a big turbo on it.

At the end of the day, a s2000 is an amazing example of engineering that is foolish to compare to a Gallardo.

I think the back looks kind of odd but it could just be the angle that the photos are from.

Looks kind of tall and thick.
The front end looks great tho.

XplicitLuder 12-19-2013 09:42 AM

The back end reminds me of the mclaren. But either way it looks nice

Holy fuck Lambo did it again. That thing looks incredible! Strange they went to lower inlets like the Murc, when the Gallardo had full side inlets like the Aventador, which I think look better but regardless, it looks awesome.

I thought the same thing from the pic. It looks narrow and tall and thick and almost rounded over from the cabin. But looking at the side profile of the spy pics, it looks more normal.
