Curious, is there any way to vent or detoxify the foam mattresses? I like the supportiveness they have, but I'm not a big fan of cancer.

StylinRed 06-23-2013 12:39 AM

ive got a Hypnos Hypnos Canada- The Most Comfortable Beds In The World (there are local dealers)

their prices vary, greatly, im not sure if their entry leve,l these days (its been so long), meets your budget though but i highly recommend looking into them ive been sleeping on mine for like 10yrs+ now and it feels brand new!

imo you're bed is one of the most important items you'll ever be using so get the best one you can; of course you should try sleeping on a lot of them before making you're decision it isn't something you should choose online

some other brands you may want to look into The Natural Luxury Bed Collection from Vi-Spring is a promise of quality Hästens Large Luxury Handmade Beds

It keeps giving off gasses, unfortunately. Some more than others (depending on composition). What's more important is the pillow. When I wake up, I find my my face burried in the pillow. I often wAnder how I don't suffocate in my sleep. I make sure my pillows and cases are totally safe (organic).

Unless you buy natural foam mattress, which is uber expensive.

I didn't even know what off gassing was until last month. I have this client who had some water damage and wanted construction materials that did not off gas. Some people are really serious about the effects of it, these people I'm working with won't bring anything new into there house because there worried about it.

Is it that serious of a health concern?

Yes.

Some times these people can come across as a little hug-a-tree-hippy, but shit isn't good for you. A little like how nobody thought asbestos was bad for you 40 years ago...now? we know better.

Is that a risk you are willing to take?

twitchyzero 06-23-2013 06:17 PM

there's no studies with convincing findings on memory foam polyurethane being a health risk so I'm just going to assume it's similar to the decades-long scare that wireless signals will increase the risk of brain tumours.

everything these days seem to either cause cancer or infertility.

Are we talking real risk though or like aspartame will give you cancer type risk? As posted above everything leads to death now a days. Drywall mud off gases, every single home building and office in this city has it for longer then most if not all of us have been alive. I just wonder how serious it really is, so many items off gas.

To answer the question, yeah I'd be willing to take the risk until I see people dropping.

1/3 of your life is spent sleeping.............

although, for me, it's more like a fifth - still a big chunk of time.

I want regeneration alcove like 7 of 9.

I'm curious, is it just memory foam giving off gases or does regular all form mattresses give off gas too?

Selanne_200 06-24-2013 12:12 AM

From some of the articles I read, seems like all types of mattress would off-gas, the only sure way is to find all natural latex mattress it seems. Although I got a tempur pedic mattress last year, I didn't notice any odur coming from the mattress even when they first delivered it.

Carpets are the biggest topic when speaking of outgassing, anything made or treated with chemicals/plastics is a concern for those who are concerned with outgassing/offgassing there's no evidence it causes cancer (correct me if im wrong) but they point to the type of gasses given off and the fact ppl get headaches when it comes to new carpet smell or fresh paint and windshield film as a sign that it's serious

m4k4v4li 06-24-2013 10:15 PM

i sleep on my back so firmer I guess. Ok so just go to sleep country and test them out and pick one that feels good after looking into warranty? since theres no way to price match?

should I avoid foam mattress then due to this gassing shit? lol

I'm a big fan of the Seahorse branded mattresses. They're a lot stiffer than most mattresses, but damn does it feel good.

Just watched episode where doctor takes over her body, as in controls her body. He/she starts to flirt with male captain of alien vessel, gets drunk, etc. Favourite line - "You abused my body!"

Then in another scene, 7 of 9, under the control of doctor, starts to get aroused......... she touches herself short of caressing the girls. Also possible lesbian scene as doctor, while in 7 of 9's body, starts to fall in love with alien chick (also with hot body).......... talk about weird boner material.

Anyway, back on topic, LOL

No such thing as natural foam. The mattresses that use natural materials use cotton, horsehair, wool and mohair. They are usually from Nordic countries or the UK. Some brands include: Hastens, VI Spring and Savoir.

MG1 06-29-2013 02:46 AM

Isn't latex made from sap of rubber trees natural?

StylinRed 06-29-2013 05:33 AM

Anything can be foam, and there is naturally occurring foam http://www.michigan.gov/documents/de...m_378415_7.pdf

And yes tree sap is turned into a rubber foam also

As for the euro brands of mattresses as i mentioned before they're great and last forever but can be considered pricey but they do offer lower priced models should definitely try them out there are local dealers that carry them
