HKTV is only able to sustain 400,000 concurrent connections at any given time. It's safe to say that they've surpassed that with both HK and Oversea viewers (VPN).

Best way to watch it would be to use those "illegal" streaming set-top devices, online streaming, and BT.

If you want to watch it live, I have not found a good solution for this yet, seems like everything out there is either very low quality streams, or high quality streams, but stutters.

Ch28 11-20-2014 11:38 AM

So basically service is shit right now :lol

Purely 11-20-2014 12:03 PM

Azdrama - quality is bad though

Not really, for HKers, they can watch VOD instead. Watching live isn't mandatory.

G 11-20-2014 12:46 PM

I think there's some UStream that streams HKTV live, but i've never tried/seen it in action..

Is Azdrama's quality shitty? they put out 720p a couple days later from what I remember...

TOPEC 11-20-2014 12:56 PM

sadly i lost my tvpad remote and have no way of controlling it

Ch28 11-20-2014 02:27 PM

Do you guys remember which show was in the original post? I just remember watching it but I don't recall the name.

rageguy 11-21-2014 05:43 AM

You must be referring to police boundaries. The first three episodes are amazing. I heard the election is good too and worth watching.

StylinRed 11-21-2014 06:37 AM

how is the tvpad? (lag?) is it worth it to get one now? or is there something better or are all these things going to suck soon due to clampdowns?

Amuse 11-27-2014 09:16 AM

My parents asked me to set HKTV up for their TV. I'm using an Android tablet to set it up on the TV. I can't seem to get it to work. Both the Android HKTV app or even logging in to their website.

I was going to buy the TVpad as well but i ended up getting the Imedia Box yesterday. Played around with it a little bit last night and it seems pretty good.

My friend has the TVpad and i notice it seems to take about 5 seconds to switch from one channel to the other. With the Imedia box, the channel switching seems instantaneous. I Watched a little bit of live TVB and the quality seems decent. They claim it is in HD but doesn't look quite HD to me.... but good enough i suppose. The shows that are available on demand are in SD.

Since Imedia box is running on android it also has XBMC built in. So that's an advantage over the TVPad.

As for clampdowns..who really knows..lol....But i guess that's a risk that we should live with when buying these devices.

albert116 12-02-2014 11:13 AM

oh i forgot to add the imedia box also has HKTV available as a channel. Maybe the TVPad has this channel as well? I am not sure.

Borderline is actually kind of boring...

Currently still watching The Election and To Be Or Not To Be.

willystyle 12-18-2014 01:27 PM

Borderline still resembles alot like TVB, but again that script was written in 2011 and filmed in 2012 when all the staffs and writers just joined HKTV, so they had not adjusted to HKTV standards. The Election and To Be or Not To Be, is more recently written and filmed, so the filming and cinematography is more up to standard.

By the way, Borderline and The Election will continue and be filmed next year for season 2. Seems like HKTV is taking a page out of American series.

winson604 12-18-2014 03:22 PM

So now that some time has passed, what are all the possible way to watch it via computer, tv pad, torrents, or otherwise?

jackmeister 12-18-2014 04:13 PM

Election needs to be everyday. Too bad it just finished filming like a few weeks ago...

willystyle 12-18-2014 08:33 PM

They can't show The Election daily cause the series wrapped up recently and they need necessary time for the editing. I'd rather that they take their time and edit it properly than rush it and potentially screw it up.

I use torrents from Chinese sites. If you can read Chinese then PM me for links.

ae101 12-18-2014 09:03 PM

i duno what other shows on hktv, i just watch the dramas on youku

willystyle 12-18-2014 09:27 PM

Youku doesn't do the show justice. Quality is so bad.

ae101 12-18-2014 10:05 PM

Watching Borderline, not bad not bad. Never seen Eagle before in TVB dramas but thought he looked damn familiar and then it came to me. He was movie star from the CBC movie Dragon Boys years back lol
