One of the top R&B vocal groups of the 90’s, Blackstreet was founded by singer, producer and New Jack Swing pioneer Teddy Riley after the breakup of his seminal trio Guy. Rounding out the group were singers Chauncey Hannibal, Levi Little and Joe Stonestreet who was replaced by Dave Hollister prior to the recording of the group’s self-titled album in 1994. The album went platinum and featured the hit singles “Booti Call”, “Before I Let You Go” and “Joy”. Their follow-up album, Another Level was released in 1996 and featured the Top 40 single “Don’t Leave Me” and the top single “No Diggity” which hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for which the group won a Grammy Award for “Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals”.
Equally rooted in gospel, soul and hip-hop, 112 was the first R&B group to emerge from Sean “Puffy” Combs’ Bad Boy label. Released in 1996, their self-titled debut album made it into the Top 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart and featured the hit singles “Only You”, “Come See Me” and “Cupid”. The following year, they recorded the single “I’ll Be Missing You” with Combs and Faith Evans for which they won a Grammy Award for “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group”. Their second album, Room 112 was released the following year and produced the hits “Love Me” featuring Mase and “Anywhere” featuring Lil Zane. In 2001, the group released their third album Part III which featured the singles “It’s Over Now”, “Dance With Me” and the Grammy nominated hit, “Peaches and Cream”.
Don’t miss Teddy Riley & Blackstreet featuring Dave Hollister and 112 when they’ll be performing all their hits in the ultimate R&B concert event at the River Rock Casino Resort on July 19, 2013.
