When they announced the new conference i thought, "woah, this is going to be a big name", etc. When it came out that it was a kid from Glee, I was confused as to why there was so much attention....I still don't really understand. |

Harsh news. I knew he was in recovery but didn't know he was still struggling. |

I don't watch Glee, but it's a very popular show on both sides of the border and beyond. Not the kind of show RS'rs would watch, from the sounds of it. In any case, dude's from Victoria (calls it home, although born in Calgary). Everyone has a vice. I'm not sure why people are so negative about this person. He has done a lot of good (charity work) and is a very genuine person. Nothing like some of the Hollywood celebrities we hear about. RIP. Doesn't matter who it is, may he finally find peace. This is RS, so not really surprised by the reactions. |
except there's a huge Glee thread in the entertainment forum ;) it died in 2011 though |

Also, Did anyone think about how he leaves behind family, friends and a gf that has been by his side for 2 years? Yes, this happens everyday an d it just so happens this is getting media attention because he's an actor. But strip those things away he was a real human being with real problems. First thought I thought of was how devastated I'd be if it was my s/o/son/sibling/friend that was taken away from me. And yes , I am a big glee fan. And if you guys watched the show you'd also know these people actually have talent than just being a pretty face. Posted via RS Mobile |
Fan or no fan, drugs or no drugs, RIP. |

the parents of all these kids that a huge fans of the show have a lot of explaining to do...it was pretty selfish of him, imo. heart goes out to his friends and family who are left behind, but i dont have sympathy for the deceased. when you choose to star on a show that caters to children, you should be held to a higher standard. |
Fuck that some coke head actor doesn't need to be a role model Kids parents should be role models just like athletes etc looking up to young millionaires is absolutely rediculous. Posted via RS Mobile |

No, its fake. Body is still here. Lea Michele Receives Cory Monteith?s Casket At Airport? | RumorFix |
He's not a role model, but the work he did and the time he spent helping others was genuine and noteworthy. Listen to what people have said about him. I don't know him from a hole in the wall, but I was touched by what I heard about him on the news. BTW, athletes are not always great role models, either. Like a reporter once stated on the news after a celebrity athlete (might be Tiger Woods) did something really dumb (dishonest, lack of integrity, etc.)........ "We are looking for role models and heroes in all the wrong places." There are real people, local heroes who, without a second of doubt, lay their lives on the line to protect/save people in distress. We see them everywhere, police, firefighters, volunteer snow and ski rescue. Role models........ the teacher who puts in hours of extra work, servicemen and women, community volunteers and leaders who work countless hours, the list goes on. Those are the true heroes and role models. Like miss_crayon alluded to, we all have demons to deal with. He had problems with addiction before he became a celebrity. He checked into rehab and was doing well. Something happened and he succumbed to his weakness. It ended his life. It's sad and it's life. Could someone have been there for him? No idea, but he left behind a lot of people whom he touched. Not sure you can just say that about any "crackhead". |
