Float House Vancouver

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced Float House yet? One of my sisters friends have been going and she said it's a real neat experience.

It's a sensory deprivation tank you lay in that has water and Epsom salts and just float with no outside noise or light which leaves you in a meditative state.

Float House

checked it out, thought it would be a neat gift for me and the gf to do, so I bought the deal with 1 gift cert. for her. gonna surprise her and just take her there on a Friday since its the one day of the week where shes got that "fuck you work...this is the longest point I have till I have to return to you on Monday" feeling....maybe this can get her stress free and relaxed.

Got the 3 session pack awhile back and only done it once so far. It took awhile for me to adjust in the tank and relax. The air is a little thick inside so it's kinda hard to breathe (for me anyways). Once I was able to get comfortable, it was really relaxing. I didn't get any hallucinations or anything like that. It was pretty tough to shut off completely and it does take some practice....easier for those that meditate I hear. I still came out of the tank super relaxed. I look forward to going again though.

Just got out, on way home now.

Me n gf were a bit skeptical when we got there, we got 30 min early so he sat us there, took our shoes off, drank tea and looked through the art books etc.

Our turn comes up, the guy takes us in. He shows us the shower (1 in each room), there's 3 soaps, 1 as a pre wash to get all oils and scents off you, 1 as a post float wash, and a conditioner for hair(minty lol).

Shows us how the tank works, goes into detail, makes you feel safe etc, lets you know you won't drown etc, very proffesional and nice and VERY accommodating! Has contact cases/solution for people, blow dryer for girls, lotions for everyone, bath robe to strut around in, slippers etc.

So...I got in, waters body temp which is nice, and once I shut the door it was a bit of a cramped/lost feeling for 2-3 minutes, after that, it literally felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. I couldn't sleep, but I tried to keep my mind blank like he suggested, was kinda weird with all the shit my brain comes up with lol. One thought would lead to the next and so on for the next 80 min.

Got out feeling like a billion bucks

Me n the gf will DEF. be going back there

Very curious to try this out

Prices seem reasonable for something that looks to be a unique experience, but i'm not surprised if it starts turning into a hype more than anything

I've always wanted to have the feeling of floating in space, and the idea of sensory deprivation seems to fit well with that

Retarded and probably obvious question, but are bathing suits used in these things? I've been meaning to check these out to close out my two-week holiday.

No bathing suit is necessary. The guy told me that even if you wear a bathing suit or shorts it will ruin it because of the dense amount of epsom salt that is in the water. He advises us to go in nude, which we did.

I went for a morning float with my girlfriend on Saturday morning from 4-6 am.

So I got the 2 hour float for $32 off living social.

As stewie mentioned in the previous post, the guy taking care of us was very chill and informative. Showed us the 3 stage shampoo and conditioner.

When I helped my gf into the tank first because it was our first time. I didn't want her to be scared and just leave half way through, so I crawled into the tank with her and stayed there for a couple of mins before heading over to my room.

There's earplugs for those that needs it. At first I wore them when I went in. but since I didn't mind water getting into my ears so I just took them off.
A noodle is provided for those who wants your head to be elevated at an angle.

Onto the float experience itself.. I laid there for the first few minutes listening to my heart beating.. then for the rest of the time I just tried to let my mind wander. It was hard at first.. all i kept thinking about was black.. then i started to see dark clouds. It was weird at first then I just relaxed. Thought about everything.

It was enjoyable and a good experience. I would definitely go again if I had the chance.

did you feel like every heart beat you had you could feel the water moving with you lol?? when I had my hands and elbows up behind my head, every time my elbow lightly touched the wall and I nudged myself off it, felt like I was drunk and having spins when you lay on a bed!! was so fun lol

if anyone likes to day dream, you guys will love this hahaha. ive no problem staring at a tv and having my mind somewhere else, this just makes it more fun

ps - half the time I had tom pettys "free falling" song running in the back of my head with my thoughts lol

my buddies and i took the saturday 1am for 2 hours.

as everyone says; there a pre shampoo, conditoner, and post shampoo.
I didnt use the bathrobe. but yes u do go in nude.

session summary;
1. after 20-30mins in the water, started to see some blue clouds. but im not sure what it is, maybe because its too dark
2. 30-50mins in, i started to dream about random things and i honestly do not remember most of my dream.
I may have fallen asleep? after an hour? idk.
3. the water felt really nice and it feels like you become one with the water lol.
4 after the session they play this mantra music which wakes you up and tell you that your session over.

tips
1.dont get the water into your eyes no matter how itchy it is. it burns.
2. their lotion is a bit shiny, and sticky so bring your own. they do not have face cream.
3. have enough rest so you dont fall asleep.
4. open the tank for at least 15 seconds before going in to let the vapour out or people who have allergies like me wont be able to breath properly for some time.

I think you need a few hours to experience anything psychedelic.

1 hour is just warming up.

haha no, I didnt ask, I just decided to slip into her tank to get her comfortable at first.

I wish the tank a a tad bigger.. I kept bouncing around the walls every 10 - 15 mins.. He said something about the ping pong effect because of the waves you create when entering the tank.

Yeah, try not to get the water into your eyes.. even if the water is at the edge of your eyes it will still burn. Also don't rub your eyes with your hands since they are covered in water. It burns like a mothereffer. Had to man up and tear it out. LOL

anyone experience anything with their skin after it?

i would think some sort of redness or rash would come from being exposed to obscene amounts of salt for a few hours

the guy was telling something about this before we got in.

he said something about magnesium being very good for your skin.

for people who eat more veggies, the more magnesium the skin would absorb.
as opposed to someone who eats meat who then will absorb less.

but no redness after, just had to clean the salt off my ear...
