dumb arguments in relationships

anyone have any?

I got one from this morning, wanted some input on it as "im in the dog house" right now for something I shouldn't be in...

story:

last night the gf stayed at my house. I keep my door shut when shes here so my dogs don't try to jump on the bed in middle of the night. but, since my parents wake up early, my dogs wake up early, and this morning my dog was scratching at my door to see us at 7am. we both wake up, I open the door since he wouldn't stop, he jumps up says hi, and curls up into a ball on the bed beside the gf's legs. she gets pissed off, gets dressed and just sits at my desk fucking around on her phone.

we decide to go for a walk at lighthouse park, so in the car I start talking about why shes so mad since she was basically giving me the silent treatment. her excuse: she cant stand poorly trained dogs (my dog is 7 months old..) and she has to wake up early on weekdays and all she wanted to do was sleep in without being disturbed(her dogs wake us up every weekend at 8am...an entire hour later..big deal)...so, I told her wtf...I slept at your house last night and your cats and dogs run on in in the morning waking us up as well, she tells her dogs to slobber all over me(big dogs, great danes) and to lick my face, yet my dogs so much as lick her leg and its an instant "fuck off dog"....her reply "mine are highly trained dogs"....so I started bitching at her saying shit like "well im sorry, my parents aren't dog trainers like your mom is, isn't it a bit of a double standard that your dogs can do all that stuff to me yet mine cant even touch you?...do you not think your setting your standards a little damn high for a puppy that hasn't been trained by a pro?" she gets mad, almost starts to cry...so I tell her im not trying to get her mad or anything...but nope, silent treatment...turned around dropped me off at home and she went home...

what - the - fuck...

ps - my dog is decently trained for his age...he'll sit, shake, lay down, hes house trained, and I just fixed him from his bad habit of chasing his tail.

any input here?.....sent her a text hours ago, still no reply, im not going to call her yet, ill give her some time to calm down and relax...but what would you guys do in my situation??? don't say ditch her cause its not going to happen.

some take time to realize their bratty-ness. try to be sensible in all you say..

quasi 07-21-2013 07:01 PM

Wow, I'd tell her she doesn't like it the doors over there. Honestly, if my wife ever got pissed off over something like that(when we were dating) I'd give it back to her 3 fold, fuck silent treatment I'd rip into her and it would end with her leaving in tears.

Since you say ditching her isn't an option and you've tried to reason with her already I'd honestly just let it go, not call her and wait for her to call me when she calmed down. She wants to play the game you play it harder then her even if you don't talk for days.

Stick to your guns,I remember one time when my wife and I were dating, she got me worked up and then said she was to tired to do anything that night under the sheets. I was so pissed off I cut her off for two months, she was begging for it but I was like nah, I'm to tired maybe tomorrow. It was so satisfying flipping the script.

ooooh she's done that to me lol, made me wait 2 months for my own stupidity lol

not talking to her for days would be hard lol, all my friends have moved away to dt MR, poco etc, and since im not allowed to drive anymore or go out on my own, shes pretty much the only way I can get around lol.

The fact that this is a big enough issue to warrant typing it up concerns me.

Gnomes 07-21-2013 07:32 PM

Is it getting close to that time of the month?

stewie 07-21-2013 07:45 PM

Shouldn't be for at least 7-10 days I think lol

but yeah my gf usually starts the fights over stupid things as well. the weird thing is is that its usually over the same thing...

XplicitLuder 07-21-2013 07:47 PM

man..and i thought i had it bad .. :heckno:

dinosaur 07-21-2013 08:03 PM

over reaction made worse when you brought her mom into it....other than that, you are both at fault:

her: being pissed off in the first place
you: arguing with her about it

Shouldn't

I'm just asking for input about what happened and how it happened and asking if anyone else has had any dumb arguments. I know that in less than 24 hours she'll be all happy go lucky again.

Was just one of those "what the fuck..." Moments, was just looking for input lol

-edit

dino: her being pissed of in the first place may have been wrong, the way I told her may have been wrong as well. but im not going to sit there smiling and agreeing with her and saying the world works in her favor and shes always right and ill keep my lips sealed.

vafanculo 07-21-2013 08:27 PM

No. You aren't wrong. You've got every damn right to do what you did. If my wife starts a stupid argument, I'll be sure to get all my cents in, and more. Then, I play my secret card. Since I know dumb arguments have a simple solution, I'll throw a fake apology.

That weathers the storm until the next dumb thing she brings up.

Lol!!

Kinda the same, even though it angers/annoys me, I stay calm and never show anger, if she starts tearing up I just throw in a "I'm not trying to be mean and make you upset, but were not always going to see eye to eye." Good thing stupid arguments are few and far between

mr_chin 07-21-2013 08:33 PM

Only solution is to see Caesar Milan.

All jokes aside, just because it doesn't annoy you that her dog wakes you up, doesn't mean she should put up with yours. She's just expressing truly how she feels about your dog, rather than fake it and hold it all up inside and pretend like she doesn't care.

I wouldn't take advice like "tell your woman to stfu", "if my woman blah blah i'd give it to her hard". These people probably wouldn't do exactly what they say if they had the chance.

Girls will always be girls and get mad at the smallest thing, and it is a man's responsibility to comfort them (make promises if you have to), or avoid it at all cause. I'm not saying you have to ONLY comfort her, discuss it in a peaceful manner. Don't just throw something back at her face and be like "fuck you bitch".

It's stupid to get into little arguments like this because

1. You guys are not coming up with a solution
2. The girl will never think she's wrong, even if she says she is
3. It's pointless, unhealthy, and just ruins the day or even the rest of the week

Just tell her that you'll get your dog trained, or tell her that you're in the process of doing it. To be honest, IMO your dog IS a little spoiled if its demanding for its owner's attention (scratches, playing fetch, treats, etc.) like that, they're needy. Tell your parents to look after it in the morning, or put a bordered cage where they sleep and can't get out, or let them sleep in the room with you two, on the floor (you have to train them to do this as well).

stewie 07-21-2013 08:42 PM

Oh it does annoy me that her dogs wake us up, I just don't say anything cause if I do, like you said, a stupid argument will result from it.

I'm the one who takes care of him, he's a puppy german shepherd who spends 90% of his day with me and sleeps in my room at night. He's attached to me, he's quite loyal, if I go somewhere he tags along with me. He WAS scheduled for obedience training starting on the Saturday we just had....but a few days prior the instructor had to cancel the course because not enough ppl signed up, so it's postponed till August...so he's getting the training he needs....he just doesn't like that he can sleep with me 6 days a week and then randomly get locked up in my parents bedroom.

I don't know why.. but I'm starting to think that all women freak out at the stupidest stuff. Why can't they just mellow out and avoid all the unnecessary drama :fulloffuck:

On the GF's case, maybe you two should work something out like, training your dogs together. Making a commitment to get them to be obedient.

On your dog's case, maybe you should cut down on the days he sleeps with you, or don't let him sleep with you at all as this may continue to spoil him or getting in the habit of. I'm saying this even if you have or not have a GF.

I know it's sad that they'll be alone, or it's really hard to leave them alone. I know, because I love dogs, and IF I had one, I'd probably do the opposite of what I said in these posts. But in a third person perspective, stop spoiling your dog.

Mr.HappySilp 07-21-2013 09:07 PM

Is a dog and they are like babies. No matter how well you train them, they will slip once a while.

Honestly I don't see why your gf is so piss off. I mean sure we all love to sleep in. But if the dog wake her up she could always go back to sleep. Is no big deal.

I sleep over at my gf's place over the weekend all the time. Sometimes she wakes me up (pulling all the blankets so I woke up form the cold or I woke her up coz I tend to get up earlier then she does.....). There is no need to be mad. Just laugh it off or do some bed time chatting and back to sleep.

Either your gf is in a bad mood or she have issue controlling her emtionals.

stewie 07-21-2013 09:20 PM

^ told her multiple times to come back to bed, she just said she's already awake, so I just lay in my bed for an hour staring at the ceiling while biting my lip from telling her to quit being a bitchy baby lol

i don't think you did anything wrong. i mean, maybe how you worded it might be harsh. but never keep shit in, speak it out. otherwise, you'd be biting your tongue and just bottling shit up and it makes things even worse later on.

better to be just honest right up.

ruthless 07-22-2013 12:15 AM

That's some pretty minor shit to get worked up over....

you sure it wasn't something else

maybe something that happened the night before, or didn't happen :ifyouknow:

Hah, you've never been around me sir I guarantee I would and have done just that. My wife and I seldom argue but if she starts a an argument out of something I feel is dumb or insignificant rest assured I'm not just going to quietly go away or tell her she's write when she's not. If the shoe was on the other foot I'd expect nothing less from her.

I treat my wife like I treat others which is how I want to be treated it's not like I"m an asshole. That said, if she's going to snap show over something stupid I"m not going to sit by and just let it happen.

If being a yes man and apologetic when other people are being irrational just to be the bigger man works for you then by all means but that isn't me.

Cassijon 07-22-2013 07:16 AM

r u satisfying her in bed? maybe she had another night of disappointment, and your dog waking her up was the last straw lol

melloman 07-22-2013 07:50 AM

Honestly you did right.

I could understand if she didn't have dogs, but that double standard is just stupid.
I'd probably let it pass, but next time your at her house, and her dogs jump all over you. I'd act the same way she did. It might seem immature but it could also put into perspective how stupid she was acting and she might smarten up.

Just never forget:

And that you did nothing wrong here.
