Maybe he should ask this on Facebook then, instead of asking in here, where people actually post opinions.

My cousin drives a 2010 Genesis, it's a great vehicle if you're looking something sporty and relatively inexpensive at the same time

Get it through your head, it's not the type of car that determines if it needs premium gas or regular, it's the engine's compression ratio for that car which determines what kind of gas it needs. High compression ratio (generally 10 or higher to 1) = 91 gas, low ratio = 87. For example, the K24 engine in the TSX (not a sports car) has a compression ratio of 10.5 to 1, meaning that it requires premium 91 octane gas.

That being said, there are exceptions. Mazda's new skyactiv engines have 14 to 1 compression ratio but they dont need premium gas.

Generally speaking, forced induction cars recommend 91 octane.

Putting premium in my car costs me an extra 150-200 bucks a year. Thats not even a night at the bar per year, and really not a big deal compared to the multiple $1000s of maintenance, insurance and mods.
