Arrived at 6:45PM yesterday. Parking was terrible, had to park at the tennis court lot. Managed to get a decent sitting space in the lawn chair area. There were still many good spots available at that time.
Food choices were medicore and overpriced: Second Beach concession stand, popcorn stands, and food trucks for perogy/cabbage rolls, mini-donuts, and Triple-O's (which doesn't even have Triple-O burgers). Highly suggest bringing your own food.
by 8:45PM the park was PACKED. People were sitting in terrible viewing areas too far away and from bad angles, and it became extremely difficult to walk out to go to the washroom.
Movie started at ~9:20PM. I now know why these events are so popular. Decent projection and sound set up, and fun atmosphere. Would definitely go again for another good movie.
NOTES: Chairs are essential. Everyone I saw sitting on the ground would wiggle uncomfortably every 10 minutes. Does get quite cold, should wear long pants and have sweaters/jackets/blankets. Bug repellent is handy, encountered many mosquitoes.
Remaining movies I've calendar marked (not full list):
Aug 16 "Up" at Queens Park Stadium New Westminster
Aug 22 "The Sandlot" at Creekside Community Centre (Olympic Village)
Aug 23 "Grease" Queens Park Stadium New West
Aug 23 "Jurassic Park" UBC
Aug 27 "Indiana Jones" Stanley Park
