thing is ben affleck already played a superhero like batman in a batman like movie, which sucked terrible ass, whereas heath ledger has never really played a villainous role. IMO he doesn't have the physicality of batman, he's kinda skinny fat lol...if the movies coming out in 2015 he better start hitting the gym today lol anyways there better not be any boston bullshit in gotham city lol |
Hm. I'm on the fence here. Think it all depends on how he tries to play the character. If they keep the darker character Bale has been playing, I think Ben might pull it off. If they try to change Batman back into more of a family friendly character like 90's Batman, they're setting him up for failure BIG TIME. At least he'll annunciate though. :lol |

I, too, agree that people give him too much flack than deserved. I think Batman has always been heavily dependent on storyline and directing, not so much acting. Even with Christian Bale he was not spectacular in the role or anything, just that Christopher Nolan did such an amazing job with the story and directing. On a related note. |

this should now be a direct to DVD movie. ben affleck as batman, is as bad as octo mom being a porn star |
It is just hard seeing Affleck other than Ben Affleck as batman. It is is similar to how tom cruz is pretty much himself in all his films. He needs to get completely lost in the role in order to go beyond his real life persona. who knows though, it could be a good casting choice. |
someone explain the matt damon reference? meh I'm not worried about Affleck's physique...I mean Bale got in shape so fast...ben affleck has some time to work out. I wouldnt mind seeing Affleck direct a superhero movie actually in the same direction as The Town...but his action chops is kinda lacking. |

1 Attachment(s) Attachment 18308 Sounds like horrible news but I will see it first then decide. I've been wrong before about thinking certain moves like this were a horrible idea. |
http://i.imgur.com/QDqfdz6.jpg Hey maybe Affleck will play Bruce Wayne and when he's in the costume its Matt Damon that would be cool :) |
|
Kind of reminds me of George Clooney Batman, both very similar actors that are used to playing the same type of roles. |

If it weren't for Bale I am sure it wouldn't have been as epic as the series has been, but I feel more of the credit goes to Nolan for story and direction than Bale's acting. If a lesser actor played the same role for Nolan, I think it still would've been very good, just not great. |
all the good work and image building in the last 10 years he's done... poof. back to gigli |
i am reserving judgement until the trailer. |
Can't seem him as being Batman when I've already seen him be Daredevil...... it's like Tobey Maguire as Ironman/Tony Stark.... |

L O L ! of course he does... Matt Damon Thinks Ben Affleck Will Be Just Fine as Batman | MovieTime | Blog When it comes to evaluating Ben Affleck’s acting ability, Matt Damon isn’t exactly in the most objective position. After all, the two actors have been good friends since childhood, have appeared in multiple films together, and co-wrote the screenplay for Good Will Hunting together, an accomplishment which landed the duo an Oscar. So it goes without saying that anything Damon says publicly about Affleck is probably going to be pretty positive. Nevertheless, Damon launched a fairly effective defence of his friend in an interview with The Times of India. Asked about the enormous Internet backlash surrounding the announcement that Affleck would play Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, Damon had this to say: “It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it’s kind of funny. You know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw Argo or The Town, and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that.” When the Affleck/Batman news first broke, many automatically assumed that it meant that Damon would be playing Robin. But Damon has helpfully set the record straight on this matter: “I am a little older than Ben. I never saw Robin as older than Batman. Somebody sent me a picture actually [of his face photoshopped on Robin's body and Affleck's on Batman's]. It was really funny. But it’s safe to say I won’t be Robin.” |
