Opinion: 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS - $7800 I am currently on the market for a Subaru Impreza I found this one on craigs: Subaru Sedan Impreza 2005 2.5RS Low KM Has a new clutch and fairly new tires. However, paint on rims is peeling. When I checked out the car. things that really stood out was that there was no oil in the engine. No records either. He said his friend is a mechanic and just changes things when they are broken. I am just curious how much you would have offered for a car like that or would you have just walked away. |
No oil in the engine? NOPE |
lol wut no oil in engine? $780 best offer bro |
When you saw no oil you should have asked him to start it. If he starts the car just turn and run! Posted via RS Mobile |
Reminds me of a 2009 RAV4 that came in for an oil change once. Had less than a litre of oil left :derp: |
why does it have no oil? 2 possibilities... -severe oil leak (huge repair cost is waiting for you) -drained the oil and didn't fill up (what's the point of this? bad oil is better than no oil) |
Be aware that these Subaru 2.5 non-turbo motors had head gasket issues. I believe Subaru recommended changing the coolant often and use their "coolant conditioner". I'd probably walk if there aren't good maintenance records. |
It's been beat. They are telling you, its beat. It's going into the mechanic friend for after hours parts. How much shit is actually breaking? A clutch disc at 120,000kms? I know this isn't unheard of, and it could be a Subaru thing, but that seems like a fast replacement to me. They also conveniently put tires on at the same time. Oh...right...AND THEY DROVE IT WITHOUT OIL. |
Run away. Why the hell would there be no oil in the car? |
bear in mind no oil on the dipstick doesnt necessarily mean no oil in the crankcase. some cars will have no oil on the dipstick when its only down half a quart or so. |
|
You went to look at a car You determined there was NO/very little oil in the engine Why are we even having this conversation? |
|
take it for a test drive to see if you like it |
I did take it for a test drive. It drives really nicely, but I don't know for how much longer LOL. I did end up offering him $5500. When he heard my offer, he was about to slap me in the face and told me good bye. What can I say... He was a dentist. Posted via RS Mobile |
 |
My brother got an '04 with well-kept records, clean history, etc. for quite a bit less than that. Pass |
anytime you are looking to buy any car with little to no records take it to a trusted mechanic first. Have them look it over it'll save you thousands in the long run. |

he might have saved you some money |
everyone email him asking about the condition, if it burns oil, etc |
might as well email and ask if it has turbo too. :troll: |
isn't the amount of oil between low and full on the dipstick is only 1 litre give or take |
he let you test drive it with no oil in it? nope.avi Posted via RS Mobile |
