Christopher Adam Tang, better known as Afroduck, never showed his face, voice, or any other identifying characteristic in the video of his very illegal 24 minute record run around Manhattan. But here he is in handcuffs.P

ABC 7 News was on hand to see Afroduck get taken into custody early this morning at the 25th Precinct in East Harlem. They report that Tang is 30 years old. He gives no comment to the reporters, and he smiles.P

ABC 7 News reports that the NYPD charged Tang with speeding, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, traffic device violation, moving from a lane unsafely, and following too closely. They impounded his British Columbia-registered blue BMW Z4.

The BMW Z4 is a sporty car, not a sports car. The Porsche 911 C4S is a sports car.

As a sports car, Marco911's C4S is among the quickest of cars in British Columbia. In contrast, Afroduck's Z4 is merely an above-average car in the demographic.

Marco911 in his C4S could thus lap Manhattan more quickly than Afroduck in his Z4, undoubtedly scoring a sub-twenty minute time.

Timpo in a Nissan GTR - a venerable sports car - could score a sub-fifteen minute time.

Running a fast lap around Manhattan isn't so much about the car..it's more about planning, some driving skill, and luck. Alex Roy set the first lap time with an s4 iirc. Then the record was broken by a different group in a Saturn sky. The average speed required to make the 24-27 min mark is "only" around 66mph.

Try pulling that shit in Vancouver.... Left lane hoggers will block you in so you can't even pass them.

These kind of "street racing" runs is like 10% car, 90% balls/stupidity.

Unless the guy in the video is ripping it 300km/h+,
then OK, I guess you'll need a "supercar" to hit those speeds.

I still can't believe he managed to drive through that entire lap without running into a single cop. I can't even drive to Scott Road station without seeing a single RCMP car or Delta Police SUV driving the same road as me, let alone lap an entire district.

But putting other drivers in danger just so you can get your 15 minutes of fame? Pretty irresponsible.
