I think it's better for exposure and to keep people coming back though, if you have ads on your videos

Not only is she gorgeous, she brings a refreshing take on Miss America.

PLUS.. and this is a huge PLUS...

She comes from a history of intelligent family members:

Quote:
"Davuluri attended the University of Michigan and has won several scholastic honors including the Dean's List, Michigan Merit Award, and National Honor Society Award.[2] She graduated with a degree in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science."

Which I am assuming helped her with some intelligent based (if any) questions or "tests" in the contest.

Whole package?

OH YEAH.

The United States is a mix diversity of different ethnic groups, socio-economic classes, and different groups.

It is not a surprise that the racists comments were posted, and as the article stated, it only represents a minority of the comments that were posted (thankfully).

In any case, way to go Ms. Davuluri!

Well-deserved and I see why she was chosen.

Lots of refreshing insights and reality checks from posters in this thread. Agreed, that a single incident of a select few people should not reflect a population of an entire country. These narrow-minded and ignorant people can be found in every country, in every city, in every community.

However, this is far too often the case in the United States; and it is far more extrinsic in the U.S. I would rather have a closet racist than one who publicizes their ignorant comments and beliefs.

I've reach so many accounts where large number of people from the US have subjected Spanish-Americans for singing the national anthem at sporting events. There was an incident where a little boy sang the national anthem at a San Antonio Spurs game and was heckled as well as subjected to a variety of racial slurs online. Same thing happened to Marc Anthony. The sad part isn't that these comments get made, but that they're not even jokes by these people. This is real-life-stupid as I like to put it and not just poor taste in humour stupid.

You don't have to be born in America to be an American. Just ask john McCain born in Panama and senator Ted Cruz who is a Tea party favorite rumored to be running for president and was born in Alberta.

You do however have to be born in america to be president.

This was why Arnold never ran for president, otherwise many suspect he had very high probability to win.

StylinRed 09-17-2013 10:25 PM

there were hotter chicks imo but the pageant doesnt always give the hottest chick the crown as they like to pretend its not all about looks ;)

You do not have to be born in America to be president you have to be a natural born citizen . John McCain ran for president and he was born in Panama and Ted Cruz was born in Alberta and rumors are he will run for president.

Natural-born-citizen clause - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:

Status as a natural-born citizen of the United States is one of the eligibility requirements established in the United States Constitution for election to the office of President or Vice President. This requirement was intended to protect the nation from foreign influence.

The Constitution does not define the phrase natural-born citizen, and various opinions have been offered over time regarding its precise meaning. A 2011 Congressional Research Service report stated that

The weight of legal and historical authority indicates that the term "natural born" citizen would mean a person who is entitled to U.S. citizenship "by birth" or "at birth", either by being born "in" the United States and under its jurisdiction, even those born to alien parents; by being born abroad to U.S. citizen-parents; or by being born in other situations meeting legal requirements for U.S. citizenship "at birth". Such term, however, would not include a person who was not a U.S. citizen by birth or at birth, and who was thus born an "alien" required to go through the legal process of "naturalization" to become a U.S. citizen.[1]

The natural-born-citizen clause has been mentioned in passing in several decisions of the United States Supreme Court and lower courts dealing with the question of eligibility for citizenship by birth, but the Supreme Court has never directly addressed the question of a specific presidential or vice-presidential candidate's eligibility as a natural-born citizen.

Right so normally thats situations like, both your dad and mom were us-citizens, they went on a trip to australia while she was like 8 months pregnant and you managed to pop out in australia.

Not debating you as you are 100% correct. Not being born in a country does not mean you cannot be "from" that country. I have friends who moved here as children (anywhere from 1-10 years old), Canada is all they know. These people were not born here, yet they are Canadian by every definition. Same goes for anyone in that situation in the US. It just so happens that there are in-bred retards in the US as well that get their panties in a bunch when someone who isn't white wins a beauty pagent. Idiots.
