TSB: 08-13 Highlander - Whine Noise Above 56km/s (35mph)

Some 2008-2013 model year Highlander cehicles equipped with the 5-speed automatic transaxle may exibit a while noise from the final drive gear assembly. This noise is noticeable above 56km/h (35mph).

This applies to all 2008-2013 Japan built and 2008-2012 North American built Highlanders.

2WD - Fix: R&R Transaxle assembly and remove center instrument cluster finish panel. - 10.0hrs

4WD - Fix:Assemble and remove upper console panel sub-assembly. - 10.7hrs

Bring your Highlander into your local Toyota dealer and insure that your vehicle is not effected by this TSB.

For the record, the "remove dash panel" is sticking 1.75 oz of wheel weights to an area near the shifter under the center console. Bullshit fix considering the transmission is replaced as well.

Yup, that is one of the steps in the TSB.
The good thing is that Toyota jumps on every problem as soon as it comes up. If 1.75oz of wheel weights is part of the fix, I'm fine with that as long as the problem is fixed.
