New $30K Midsize Sedans Look'n Upscale

bored so i'm gonna post a Timpo 99% picture thread. I've noticed how 'recently' announced midsize family sedans are looking so sporty and comparable to $50K cars from just a generation ago.

If the MZ6 or Fusion were RWD ...... :megusta:

LiquidTurbo 09-23-2013 11:35 PM

I think the latest gen Accord is the closest thing to a perfect family sedan.

The impala was so long over due for a refresh it was getting ridiculous -- I'd literally spend half my day being asked "What year is this thing?" when customers got into a 2012 impala. Such a POS

lol, look at the temperature adjustment -- it's like its out of a 1995 insert-domestic-car-name

donjalapeno 09-24-2013 12:03 AM

^ true.

and they drive like shit too...so bouncy and noisy and gutless. The 2014's however are pretty nice to drive...but only time can tell how good they last.

Slightly off topic:

Was SUPER excited to see the new interiors in the 2015 GM SUV's......ended up just as disappointed as I was with the previous gen. :(.

Seriously what's up with GM and Chevy? Ford up'd their interior game half a decade ago. How hard is it to update your shit.

kwy 09-24-2013 12:28 AM

I was just thinking the same thing. The new Accord is actually pretty for an appliance. Mazda 6 looks decent as well.

yray 09-24-2013 07:36 AM

Dat tacky blue lcd display text, the colour of domestic cars.

hc529 09-24-2013 07:44 AM

I drive the 2013 accord touring. It pushes a little over 40k . if u want just ex or exl model it'll be around 30-34k

Ford fusion titanium (one in the pic) is pushing $40k as well

The interior on the base model is meh (the one thats ~30k)

Purely 09-24-2013 10:18 AM

Focus has pretty nice interior as well imo

radioman 09-24-2013 10:23 AM

Optima/sonota have some pretty nice features and design

ScratchedMy991 09-24-2013 11:26 AM

Let's not forget about Hyundai/Kia. Peter Schreyer has been doing great things since he was brought aboard.

Never mind that it's gorgeous. Who ever thought we'd ever being paying over $30K for a car from a company whose past models are absolute rubbish?

I had in mind cars designed in the last 12 months or else the Genesis would've definitely made the list.

Optima is a great modern-looking car and lightyears ahead of its predecessors but it still doesn't seem upscale to me like the Mazda 6 for example.

white rocket 09-24-2013 01:00 PM

Yeah, the designs are great and all but what about fit and finish and quality of materials used? That's where most cars have always lacked; except the ones that last more than 5 years without becoming disposable junk.

supafamous 09-24-2013 01:59 PM

Saw a pearl white Mazda 6 GT the other day with the front lip on it and it is a great looking car the front and front quarters view. I have no need for something so large but if I were it'd be hard to pass it up (the almond leather is fantastic too).

to each their own...i think the looks of the new mazda 6 is less than stellar against the other sedans (tied with the accord)...i like the looks of the optima better...

maxx 09-25-2013 05:57 PM

mazda 6 is so so so nice....

kwy 09-25-2013 06:01 PM

The Optima is definitely interesting to look at for a car of its class, but the design is a bit polarizing. I can see it becoming dated faster than some of the more traditionally designed, conservative competitors. The side vents are pretty gaudy as well..
