And if you got one from a lower KM car, its an easy way to scam people. |
If it was a US car, don't they have to change the speedo to Canadian one to pass inspections? Posted via RS Mobile |

in order to use a brand new cluster. u will have to get a dealer or a shop to program it to your car. also the kms info is store in the ecu as well, thia makes it extremely hard to tamper with the kms. even if u plug a used cluster into a late model bmw, the cluster will show the kms from the ecu of the current car and it will also show a big orange dot telling u that the vin and kms dont match between the ecu and the cluster rom. its also almost impossible to change the vin of a used cluster to a new car, u pretty much have to open the cluster up and swap the chip storing that info. Look far enough at its history and I would guess it comes from Calgary. The low part. Written as dismantle/parts with no physical damage. All you need to know. Sad to strip a basically brand new car but that's all its good for. People buy flood cars all the time trying to sell them as good units. Trade them across enough lines and you might lose its history. |

BMW started doing this since the introduction of the E36. |

Carry on. Edit: And no I think wouldn't disgrace Honda like that... |
^e46 are super easy plug and play as well (2 torx screws.. literally), until you start driving. The error light comes on and tells you that the cluster has been swapped and the mileage record goes to bunch of dots |
Emailed the guy, he got super upset when i asked him if the car has been in a flood and he would not tell me the history behind this car. :fullofwin: |

I already looked into this car a week ago guys. Here is what I know... Canadian car, specifically Alberta. 100% clean title, no accidents, no salvage, no lien, no flood etc etc. No idea what the exact story is but my guess is a repo or a car that was left in an impound for an extended period or something along the lines. The seller had no problem sending me the VIN, and this is what I got from autocheck.com http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psb5f7b531.jpg |
huh. thanks for posting that. the plot thickens. |
Ad of gone from CL now. |
No it's not, he just sucks at Craigslist and deleted it rather than reposting it: 2009 BMW M3 E92 coupe smg |
lol it almost looks like he read this thread and cleaned up the car and got new pics |

Anything called "thechopshop" that doesn't do graphic design should be good. |
