Hmm...trade a Buick for a Buick? Have a 15 year old Supercharged Regal GS that I was planning to build into a sleeper through the winter months. It's a clean one owner no accident car with 74,000 orig. km. Browsing online ads today and came across a 2008 Buick Allure SUPER with the LS4 V8. 303hp & 330 lb/ft torque. 0-60 in 5.7 sec. Completely sleeper look. It has 98,000 orig. km Two fun facts: They only made about 2500 units in 2 years. It's priced more like a V6 since the dealer doesn't seem to know they came with a V8. It's priced $3k under black book. The transmission is the weak spot (same one as in my GS) but I'm thinking a trans cooler and a tune can help to minimize its need to overheat. So I'm wondering if I should trade in my GS for the Super. The Super is 1 sec faster than my GS stock for stock but there's more aftermarket support for the GS. The Super just sounds good and has some aftermarket support including a turbo kit :ahwow: So basically it comes down to fast and moddable FI 6cyl car or a rare and powerful V8 car. I'm conflicted and was wondering what you guys would do? Footnote: I know both cars look homely as shit but that's the whole point. My G8 has the looks so I want something more stealthy to fuck with people. Reference video on the Super: Thanks |
I think with some wheels that car would look great! Personally I'd go with the LS package, get some wheels, maybe do the suspension, keep the power pretty stock until you know how to drive the car better |
Just noticed it's FWD, damn |
those faux fender vents just sealed the deal :ilied: |

300+ HP and TQ through the front wheels trying to drag a decently heavy car behind it... Thats the difference between this and those tuners, a civic weighs a lot less compared to the buick. Seems like a recipe for disaster... |
Those buicks remind me of hoodlums in Texas chopped and screwin on daytons with sparetire on the trunk |
I guess it depends on the price difference between your current and the Super. That factor would help a great deal in terms of advice from us. I dig on the V8 action and it looks more luxurious. Don't get too excited about current BB pricing; that book is a rough guide at best and the Buick product line is known to sell for under value due to it's lack of popularity. |
Id do the swap. Theres plenty of aftermarket support for LS archetecture. Plus its more power without even being force fed. The LS is also a very happy engine under boost. Yes the weak point of the car is the trans but I'll assume its probably not to different from a caddy trans. Keep it cool speed up the shift points and it'll last alot longer. Put a fan on the trans cooler to tho. They dont do much to keep a trans cool when airs not flowing thru them. IE burnouts.... yes you will be doing plenty do try to fool yourself. |
these fwd v8 cars from gm are such a fail. mercury marauder over the lacrosse super all day everyday. keep the gs. ive always liked those cars for some reason. |
stopped reading after buick, power is one thing but are these actually enjoyable to drive? Quote:

I'd rock it. |

Guys, this isn't a balls out performance car. It's more oriented for street / show with some strip in between (to put scrubs in their place). Both handle great for their size and the GS has aftermarket suspension for it to make it track worthy. There's something about sleepers that get my pecker all knotted up. |
FYI: If you post about your car online it's not a sleeper. |
Touche :troll: |
eek. i hope that allure dosen't handle like this buick... |
^ That's a Buick Park Avenue which rides on a stretched platform of my GS. Handling is on the weak side (tuned for comfort) and it has bicycle tires. Looks like he tried to prematurely accelerate through that turn. Driver fail moreso than car fail. The Allure Super rides on Billstiens and is more aggressively tuned. Not overly aggressive but enough to inspire confidence behind the wheel as it balances sport and comfort. The team who build this car is the same team who built the Cadillac V series cars. They just didn't have much to work with in the former case. |
is this it? 2008 Buick Allure ALLURE-SUPER Sedan maybe i'll go for test drive before i give you my opinion. what's the best rpm for launching off the line? :D |
I test drove it about a week ago. Let's just say the tires will squeel off the line if you're a whee hard on the gas. I couldn't go for a real test drive because the salesmen (who looked 85) might have had a legit heart attack :okay: |
I have a soft spot for the 2000/2001 Regals because my friend in HS had one. He peels out at every traffic light, and the sound system was pretty amazing from what I had remembered. I'm not sure what he did to his car, but it destroyed a Prelude Type SH (the stupid things ppl do when they just got their N) |
My friend had one of these, the dials and knobs have chipped paint and the plastic trim paint is also chipping. Not GM's best work imo |
