Yes, you have to pay. You leave a deposit (around 100,000yen) and once you bid on and win a car you pay the outstanding balance including their fee and shipping.

Rhd was difficult pulling out of residential street parking. Lol never 100% the road was clear, just slowly inching out and hoping no one will honk.

i didn't think it was so bad. it's like parking on a one-way street downtown.

and there is no excuses for curbing your rims

If you go to a good company then there should be no issues with the car, after I paid my deposit my exporter looked at many cars. Before we even bid I had videos and photos of the interior and exterior of the car, he test drove the car to see how it ran and if there was any weird noises.

I had a wonderful experience buying a car from japan, and when/if I have the money for another I know where and who I'm going through.

p.s. this is my second RHD over the years (first was bought here in Canada) and I have no issues with driving. Ya I take a little longer then some to make a left at intersections, but thats about it.

I just mean it feels weird committing to the purchase before physically seeing the car.

And if the car arrives and it's not in the shape or mechanical condition described, I'm SOL?

Does anyone know if EDM vehicles are viewed the same as JDM vehicles with respect to the 15 year rule? Only info I could find was #13 on the Admissible Vehicle sheet.

That's why you go through a trusted exporter that's been in the business for a long time. Ask a million questions, ask for more photos and video. If he doesn't want to do that (or even offer that), then he isn't the person you want to deal with.
