GT350?

ok so is GT350 supposed to be a completely different than GT500?

like Camaro Z28 is for track, ZL1 is for cruising?

or GT350 just a downgraded poor man's GT500?

if the camaro had to be categorized:

ss = cruiser
z/28 = track car
zl-1 = dragstrip

the gt350 will sit between the gt and the gt500. because of the prototypes running around, there is still rumor of a 2.3L ecoboost turbo i-4 SVO (the same engine in the upcoming focus RS) that will slot under the gt, which would appeal the european markets.

well I;m just wondering if GT350 will go faster around the corner and get a faster lap time around on the track than the GT500 just like ZL1 and Z28.

the gt350 is said to be the indirect successor to the boss 302 in the model lineup, and will compete with the z/28, but i do not know whether it will be as single-minded/hardcore as the z/28. the gt500 was more about going fast in a straight line and was never really much for handling because of the high CG caused by the supercharger and the front end weight bias. the gt350 is still normally aspriated.

skipping generations. may have gone on hiatus because the shelby gt500 came back.

those are actually cobra Rs which are even more awesome, i think ford really did a disservice and disrespect to SVT by going after baby boomers and renaming their high performance mustangs shelby gt500s instead of continuing their SVT Cobra branding which had a lot more relevance to people in my generation.

between the cobra, cobra Rs, lightnings and even the focus and the contour SVT had a pretty good rep until they dropped the branding

the more i google articles about the gt350, the more i am seeing "svt cobra" mentioned at the same time in some of them. without anything definite, it just might be called the cobra (especially with that grille on the test car... fangs).

second prototype in this video. not sure what it is... obviously does not sound the same, and it dosen't seem as fast or handles like the first one? it has no front lip, but it does have canards :confused:

As for the Shelby name, I think they'll drop it due to his passing. Wouldn't be a great image to keep making money off his name, and they'd probably need to pay royalties to his estate/heirs?

i am still confused with the wheel offsets. ie. front wheels are concave but the rears are not.

not a fan of these cars with no bumpers and high trunk/hoods.... lowers visibility and makes it look like a boat

The high hoods are because of European pedestrian safety guidelines. I hate them too but they're here to stay
