Official "What to get her" Christmas Thread

Thought Id start this earlier in the year so the ideas start circulating. Whether its for a friend, crush, girlfriend, fiancé, wife, or even family. Im sure most of us go through the dreaded "What do I get her?" crisis during December. So lets help each other out.

Ill start off with something I found rather interesting for those who might want to have a bit of fun with their gift:

About Us -

stewie 10-29-2013 06:01 PM

for the gf im planning on buying her a jewelry box(shes been complaining about needing a new one for a bit now), and maybe something small on the side

brother/his gf - I usually ask them and they tell me what they'd like, its easier that way...

nephew - tons of toys

mom - new kitchen knife set

dad - anything Harley Davidson related...might also buy a set of pink handle bar tassle thingies and put them on his bike while its in winter storage :)

Last minute shopper there. I usually go to the malls on 20 to 24 of dec and get on my hands on what's left over.
Gift for my ex(when we were dating) LemonLemon pie pillow, scarf, , roses, necklace etc etc......

I'm getting a "Purse Hanger" or whatever its called for my Aunt / "soon to be God Mother" when I visit her next month. I don't see many people using these, but I think they would make for a decent/cheap gift.

They come in many different designs, and can close up and become a keychain sorta thing, and hang off a purse etc when not in use. It makes for a decent decoration, and is functional ;D

Image below is a generic/boring looking one though xD

Gf and I actually don't buy each other anything, birthday yes but we don't celebrate everything.

I honestly think people that celebrate monthly anniversary are a fucking joke.

dinosaur 10-30-2013 01:29 PM

I celebrate everything.

Yesterday was our 18 and 2/15th month anniversary. I bought him Justin Bieber cologne and he got me a Channel purse and Hello Kitty keychain. We drove to Cypress, gazed at the city, and talked about our hopes and dreams.

So romantical.

It helps if both parties are on the same page re: gift giving. Maybe you're not into celebrating stuff and your SO is and then it turns into a big fight, or worse tears, because they think that you not buying things for them or celebrating your 15 day-iversary means you don't love them.

My SO isn't into celebrating stuff and is a very practical gift giver. I'm totally okay with this, because sometimes he brings me home peanut wontons from Chongqing unexpectedly and I feel like a friggin' schoolgirl. I also know that when he does buy me something, it's going to be something I need/want and will actually use. This also shows me that he gives a shit about my interests instead of treating me like a generic female who will love whatever the commercial told him I will.

That being said, some people really like impractical, pretty things - like candles with rings in them (seriously, dafuq?) - and so you just have to figure out what kind of person you're with and how they might interpret the kind of gift you give them.

I agree! I'm a gift giver and I love to give thanks or say I love you, or celebrate any occasion with a gift! That book, the 5 Love Languages or something really helped me to realize how I show love and how I perceive being loved. Its not being materialistic or greedy etc etc... gifts is just how I like to show my love and how I like to be showed I'm loved.

On that note.. I think good quality, fluffy socks are great presents!

Although I can barely understand what you are trying to say here, I'd like to know how you came to this conclusion.
