HonestTea 02-06-2014 08:02 PM

Did the opening ceremonies already happen or when is it scheduled for?

Edison_Chen 02-06-2014 08:34 PM

Ovy tonight on the constant bashing of the games "Why you look for bad things"

So true. We just couldn't let Russia have the games.

The media has destroyed the party/vibe aspect and sabotaged the experience for the athletes.

Kinda sad.

BossFrancis 02-06-2014 08:46 PM

Seems legit

There were a lot of negatives leading up to the vancouver games too. Hopefully once the actual competitions get going, the focus will be on the competitions and hopefully none of these negatives really comes up anymore.

That is pretty hilarious though, showing it to my techs tomorrow morning, lol.

On the topic of the Sochi photos circulating around the internet, keep in mind some of them aren't actually real...

They were quite big negatives too. Not so much the structural gaffes that we're "seeing" in Sochi, but IIRC the British media were saying that Vancouver2010 venues and layout were the worst they had ever seen. Then the unfortunately events at the sliding center added to the pile of criticisms.

But once the opening ceremonies started, you rarely heard a critical piece written about Vancouver (and still don't).

we never provided such appalling conditions... and they better not be killing those stray dogs as reported..

I know you love dogs. I do to. But what do you think they are doing with all the strays that are wandering town. Rounding them up, only to be released back into society once the hoards of athletes and journalists leave.

Russian officials are killing the stray dogs. Its no secret. We do it in Canada too.

spoon.ek9 02-07-2014 08:06 AM

what I mean to say is, there are obviously better options than to simply slaughter them.

Social media has really ruined everything and created this big society of hate

I'm sure the conditions are fucked up around there but also I'm sure the areas most frequented are mostly complete. These photos coming out are akin to taking a picture of a high rise in downtown Vancouver during 2010 and saying "lawls Vancouver isn't ready"

I think Russia was just over ambitious with their development. That CBC passionate eye documentary lays it out quite well and says that a vast majority of the development while the construction companies say it's a "games project" has moreso to do with selling condos to the rich after the games tha anything to do with athletes or spectators of the games

Indian luger Shiva Keshavan crashes, then makes amazing save | NBC Olympics

Shiva Keshavan, a 31-year-old luge athlete participating in his fifth Olympic Games, falls off his sled but manages to remain calm and regain control to finish his practice run.

Keshavan, who hails from India but will be racing under the Olympic flag because of his home country's suspension by the IOC, has already achieved a measure of viral fame due to his use of a Himalayan highway as a training track.

There are no rules about falling off a sled and completing a run, so Keshavan's time of 1:01.64 during his training run is recorded as official in the session's results.

We also have towers hidden as trees. My friend consults on supplying power for them and you are right there are some creative and cool designs out there
