it's also like how they don't use the metric system like everyone else does.

and I believe their the only country that uses Fahrenheit.

this deserves to be here instead of the Hockey thread

but the IOC is a joke for how it handled this. To shed some light, Lubo Visnovsky went through similar events, however, he was notified within the 48hrs and was able to be retested.

IIHF, NHLPA, NHL and all of Sweden are angry. As a hockey fan, would have love to see Sweden be able to ice an actual centre. Absolutely certain with at least one guy, the play up ice at times would be slightly different

Don't take pseudoephedrine if you are competing in the olympics.

No shit - I mean, it's not like nobody has ever had this happen before EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. Everyone should be well aware of what off-the-shelf products can create a false positive, and have no excuse not to avoid them.

Also if you look at their guidelines posted 5 years ago, they clearly state what kind of dosage is considered "therapeutic" and which are "supra-therapeutic" (ie you are using it for something other than allergies)

Quote:
The threshold level has been established based on the intake of therapeutic doses of PSE, defined as a maximum daily dose of 240mg PSE
That gets you over 150 ug/ml, if you take it within 24 hours of competing. He had 190 ug/ml, so presumably he took more than 240mg

Well, after watching the closing ceremonies today gottay say, my hat goes off to Sochi and the Russians for pulling these olympics off

I probably watched 30-50 hours of coverage. The venues and sites looked stunning and the mountain cluster looked amazing on TV. Great weather, looked to be great participation from volunteers, and everyone else involved in making the games happen

I'm sad it's over because i enjoyed them so, and makes me even more sad to think that its already been this long since all those good feels in Van

not much else to say but well done Russia, great job.

Im sad as well. I absolutely love the Olympics but the way I felt during the Vancouver games changed the way I feel about them going forward, including Sochi now.

You get emotionally connected to the whole thing. 2 weeks of cheering your home country on, cheering the athletes ups, and feeling for them on their downs. Every morning, turning the TV on to see whats going on, and watching the primetime recap in the evening. These olympics I really got into following the games on my phone on the Sochi app as well. It seems so long ago we watched Mcrib bring the first medal home, and then Chloe and Justine's incredible runs. And to finish it off with Canada gold in Hockey. So many good memories.

And then, after 2 weeks, its over.

Just like Vancouver, there were some negatives leading into Sochi, but after a day or 2 of the games, no one mentioned them anymore and the games were a very positive and successful run.

It is incredible that there is such an enormous lead up for the 8+ years leading up to the games, an astronomical amount of money, and it comes and goes in such a short time. And now we wait another 4 years (or 2 if you're into the summer games as well) for next time.

Agreed with you two gents. So much feels, especially when that creepy bear blew out the torch and shed a creepy tear

I didn't think I would get so involved with the whole Olympic action since I'm not a big sports fan. However, all it took was a single watch of one of the events on the first few days and I was hooked on the entire two and a half weeks. I've probably watched more sports in the last two weeks than I have in the past year. It has definitely been an exciting two weeks, sad to see it go just like that.

One of the really amazing things about these games, they give the world a TRUE glimpse into other cultures that we normally wouldn't get. Leading up to it, all we saw was the sensationalistic crap from certain media outlets who are more interested in their ratings points, and self-styled activists with a point to make who wanted to make various governments or establishments look bad and to hell with the hard-working everyday folk who are putting all the work into making things happen...

And then when it all gets rolling, we get to see those people who have no sociopolitical axes to grind, who just love their country and their hometown, who are excited to greet visitors and help them feel welcomed, to show off what they think is so great about their land and their heritage, who have given up weeks of their regular pay for the once-in-a-lifetime experience volunteering and performing.

That was the case here, and that was the case in Sochi, and hey, again, fuck the other biased media, and full props to both NBC and CBC for great, balanced, thorough, REAL coverage.

EDIT:
