Racist graffiti dismays community | Vancouver 24 hrs

In some ways, I am not at all surprised by this kind of stupidity. Extremism, racism, and stupidity can never be completely eradicated in society. At the same time, I am really quite surprised to see this kind of bullshxt in a city as racially and culturally diverse as Metro Vancouver.

If you see something like this, what are you going to do other than notify the police?

lol are you serious.. always see stupid nazi signs in highschool washrooms... Some kids just have nothing better to do. If it bothers you write something over it or ignore it.. who the hell cares.. Lots of crazy ass people in the world..

^^ Dude, this isn't high school we're talking about (even though it may well be a dumba$$ hs kid scribbling it). Plain and simple, this is hate crime that is punishable under the Canadian Criminal Code.

I agree that there is probably very little that can be done in terms of catching the perpetrator. As a rule, it is still important to emphasize that this kind of thinking has no place in society, especially one such as ours here in Vancouver.

What does it matter if it's highschool or not? Kids go everywhere.... Stupid shit like this will always exist no matter what. There's little that can be done to stop it and the best step one can take is to simply ignore it. I'm pretty sure the people doing it know it's unacceptable they could just care less.

I don't think I've ever taken ANY graffiti I've seen in a bathroom stall seriously. If that's the case, I'd better start calling all those numbers promising me a good time, flush twice because it's a long way to the kitchen, keep an eye out for all those hidden cameras watching me take a deuce, and just overall ponder the meaning of life while reading some random poems scratched into the wall.

Yes, it is some random graffiti scribbled in a bathroom stall -- that much I will agree. But for the rest of your remarks, I think it would be best if we simply agree to disagree.

There's racist graffiti all over the place, there used to be tons in the Superstore bathroom on Grandview and Rupert. How I see it, racism will never die... so just try to live with it.

Since pbrdukes likes this I will go ahead and say it again. I get called car-bomb to my fucking face, they don't even write it in the bathroom stall where I might not see it, and I don't get all bent out of shape over it... people say stuff, and do stuff. It may not be funny, it may not be politically correct, but there is nothing you can do to change what people are thinking in their sick little twisted heads, and that is exactly what people scrawl on bathroom stalls.

So many people here are so pessimistic about how something like this will ever change. Its easy to see the problem but its hard to see the solution due to complexity and you stop before you even begin. This is why we will never change.

lol, i came in expecting to see some huge 10 foot spraypainted graffiti, not some 3 cm chicken scratch on the inside of a bathroom stall.

this whole thread is pretty fail, from 24h to the OP.
