which stealership to go
thinking about selling my car, anyone had good expereince with any?
obviously the higher price they buy the better as well.
saw a car I like at a dealership and they do accept trade ins, but would they give you the same value they would have IF you went to sell it in the first place? or would they offer even less to make more profit? (since they know I want a car from them)
It's a dealership, they'll only take your car if they can turn a profit on it.
They'll often grade your vehicle based on the blackbook/bluebook/redbook value and deduct from there (ie. if you need new tires they'll deduct the cost from their "book" value)
Mind you the pro of trading in your car to the dealership you're buying the car from is that you only pay tax on the difference. If you sell the car to another dealer, then buy another car from a different dealer, you'll be paying tax on the whole amount.
I remember trying to trade in my old car and the dealership offered 5k, I ended up selling the car for 13.5k.
Doesn't hurt to try and negotiate a deal and see what you'll get for trade in value. They'll often lowball you to start to see if you bite, then you negotiate harder since they want to sell you a car at the same time gain a car for fair value to sell for profit.
and keep in mind, blackbook prices is wholesale price. Go to toyota.ca > shopping tools > appraise your trade in. That will link you to the Canadian black book. Enter your vehicle, year milage and will show you what its worth as trade in value.
