Z110bt AM Radio question

Hey All,
I recently installed my z110bt in my 2012 kia sorento (the basic stereo, not the infinity one) and the am reception is really bad since the install. I used the Metra 40KI11 in my install. Is this the proper radio adapter or is it potentially a different problem? Thanks and please let me know if you need more information.

Not sure what that part # is right now you should have also used an antenna adaptor. I think the Metra one may not fit without some modification.

Then it must be that you didn't power up the amplified antenna. There should be a blue wire on the harness or the antenna adaptor. Wire it up to the stereo and you should be fine.

Metra Part # 40-KI11 | Aftermarket Antenna | Metra Online this is the adapter. It did not have a blue power wire coming off of it.

I get it, I'm assuming that you used a Metra harness to do the power and speaker connections?

If so then you should have a blue wire on that harness.

i used the Metra Part # 70-7303 | Hyundai KIA wire harness | Metra Online. Is the wire you are referring to the one on the red harness? If so, what should I do with it as I did connect everything together.

And rarely does an aftermarket stereo have better AM reception.

AM signal is bad already.

Might want an antenna amp or just use and amplified antenna

Oh and I guess the days of the Tiburon are long gone? lol

Yeah, the Tiburon is long gone. Funny you should mention it though. I saw it down in the High Point area near the equestrian centre a couple of weeks back. It's nice to see it's still on the road. Not much room in a 2 door car for a wife and two kids.

I used the same aftermarket stereo in my last vehicle and the am signal was quite strong so I must have wired something incorrectly.

Reception really varies between cars. Sometimes you win, most times you don't. lol
