| Playstation 3 - Unable to read discs
I have the original fat 60GB PS3 and for some reason, my PS3 suddenly stopped being able to read discs.
The PS3 was fine yesterday night when I was playing GT5 but today, it's unable to read the disc. I've tried putting in other games and Blu-Rays and still nothing happens. The PS3 menu and interface loads up perfectly but the game doesn't show up or load.
I've tried resetting it(not a complete reformat) and the game loaded afterwards. So I tried turning the system off and than back on again to make sure it's been fixed but the game wouldn't load anymore. I thought I'd be able to reset it and have the game work again but it didn't work after resetting the second time.
What's wrong with it and is there a way to fix it?

First thing that comes to mind would be the blu-ray drive. Could probably get one on ebay for 50 bucks and replace it yourself. PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Drive Replacement - iFixit

Had this same problem. Was the laser. Can diy it yourself for fairly easy or go to WeFix. The guy fixes up consoles in his apartment for 80. Mine is still fine. He has a 2month warranty on his work. Posted via RS Mobile |
