Recommend me a tranny shop?

Soo...tranny started slipping, and since it's the "infamous" accord V6, I'd like to at least know where to get the car towed to if/when it goes kaput.

Does anyone have experience or recommendations on who to go to for a rebuild?

TIA :okay:

I've heard good things about "benz" transmission, no personal experience with them though. Good luck.

Haven't used them personally, but they seem to know their stuff.

Sorry to hear that :(

I know you did the 3/4th pressure switches already, but did you keep up with the tranny fluid drain and refills? How many km's? Sad to hear 07 die..

Btw, PM SupraTTturbo2jz, he knows several places.

As soon as I made the post, I knew I had made a mistake with my choice of title...

Spoiler!

Any automotive shops who are sponsors can help you. They just all send it out for rebuilds anyways. I would suggest you get the a R&R on the rest of the drivetrain when you are at it... belts etc etc.

Oh something like this.. is best to be able board ie no cash but credit cards etc especially if it is rebuilding transmissions. Never hurt to have credit card you can complain to if things are not satisfactory.

Go see Danny at Boss Automotive on Smith Street in Richmond. They're one of the top re-builders in the lower mainland.

I can direct you to a thailand agency.

i got mine done at open road honda. close to $3k with 2 yr warranty, they outsourced it to "benz"

when i called "advance transmissions(cant quite remember the name) they quoted $4500 for a rebuild....

My transmission is still good after a year and a half.

PM RS Member DrMike for the number to Anthony Espinoza. I heard he's got quite an extensive history working with trannies

The infamous Honda Autos.
In all my years of owning Hondas I have never found a shop that can rebuild one to last nearly as long as the original one did.
IMO, I would say get a remaned one directly from Honda if you plan on keeping the car for any length of time.

Sad to hear you're havin issues. Honda done fucked up with these Accords. It really sucks
I've had a good experience with Mister Transmission. No actual tranny work but they did a test drive and confirmed everything was solid. I went to the Lougheed location.
There's some good educational info on their site too. check it out!

Our family's TLS is just sitting on the driving like a slut.

I'm in the same boat, but don't want to rebuild the auto....looking for a 03-CLS 6 speed instead

It's not just the Accord, all there new autos are junk. All 5th gen Prelude autos are toast at 120-150000kms. A rebuilt will last you another 40-50k then it will go as well.
There autos suck, thats why I will never own an auto Honda, just to much cost of ownership for a car that is designed to be cheaper to own.

Most FWD autos are heading in this direction as they keep trying to make things smaller and more compact.

I have family members who swear by the Mister Transmission in NVan as well...

Lomac 12-28-2013 11:44 AM

I've had good experiences with Mister Transmission as well (though I've only used the Langley location). They even fixed an issue free of charge that a Volkswagen dealership fucked up on, after VW themselves refused to deal with.

narfy 12-28-2013 12:02 PM

before you go get quotes and info on other shops, call a honda dealer and ask them how much a genuine honda remanufactured unit costs, installed… atleast with that you have a bench mark for comparable pricing...

you can keep rebulding them all you want and it wont make a difference. its a design flaw by honda. the only way around it is the manual trans or buy a different car..

head over to acurazine and check out some of the swaps that some people have done. i think that the manual trans found in the 04+ models will work as well but dont quote me on that. just check out the forum..
