Nice. I've been pretty tempted to get one of these. I didn't realize they had a 64gb model.

64gb model only comes with about 28gb usable. so if you add in a sd card gives you about 85gb.. more than enough for what i need to use it for.. it's not like it's meant to be a full fledge work/gaming computer

I'll wait a bit longer for the price to come down some more. I'm mainly interested in the 8gb 256ssd model.

Been using my Surface for a good two weeks now.
Now that I've gotten used to the battery life, it's actually not bad. I get about 4 hours at school with medium brightness typing notes, browsing the internet, using OneNote, etc.
My friend has a Surface RT, and damn, it's much lighter.

Aspect ratio makes it a bit strange for me. Have 2x SP2 and 1x SP3 all 8gb core i5. The type cover and touchpad on the new one is so much better as well its a bit lighter. The screen is higher resolution but roughly similar in ppi. Stylus I never really used on either so can't comment on that.

What will you use it for mainly (web surfing or mostly working on docs and typing).
For most ppl a tablet is better if they are just using it for light surfing and little to none word process. Surface pro is only good for those ppl who are always on the go and need sot use office or light graphics design and editing and doesn't want something as heavy as a laptop.
Honestly though for the price of Surface pro 3 I rather add a little more and get the macbook air.

yes the macbook air is on my mind as well... but i do not have much apple experience other than the odd ipad websurf.

Not exactly the surface, but these full Windows 8 non-RT tablets are mighty tempting. Might go for one of those over an Android if/when I get one.

Very tempted to pick up a i7 with the dock. Did some research and there seems to be some "problems"
- Overheats and "freezes"
- Magnetic part of charger is flimsy as hell and breaks in a few months.
Plan to use it as a glorified ipad that can run foobar + VLC/KMP for 1080p K-Dramas marathons on long flights + maybe some light gaming (warcraft/hearthstone).
Any of you guys encounter any of the above mentioned problems? Really want to get it but am a little apprehensive.
*Already have a mbp/air so nope, its not to be a laptop replacement.

Surface Pro 3 is incredible! Admittedly, it is hella pricey, but for what it is, it's amazing. Don't expect too much high-end gaming other than the likes of League of Legends tho

Not too worried about batt life so long as it is >5 hr per charge as most 777 & A330 have power sockets in every seat. Only real worry is the overheating/power cable issue.

*Already have a mbp/air so nope, its not to be a laptop replacement. | Why do you need an i7? None of the tasks you mentioned need that. I've deployed around 20 SP3 i5 8GB 250GB with no issues whatsoever in my office and remote users. No reports of any broken chargers or overheating in the last few months.

Right now, I travel with a iMini 128 + mbp 500, I want to replace BOTH with the SP3 so 500 + a 128 sd card would be perfect. (I did consider the i5 + upgrade to a 1tb 840 EVO but after seeing ifixit shatter their screen during the teardown I decided against it.)
