It's a shame how many cars that would have been good with a stick shift option.

Yeah, I get it, it's slower than a good auto and less fuel efficient, but I don't give a shit. Just give me the goddamn 3rd pedal!

And no, paddle shifters don't replace a stick shift. I tried the paddle shifters on a rental Corvette, and no, didn't feel a thing.

I wonder why we don't get the 4 banger in canada and only awd models.

radioman 02-21-2018 08:01 AM

Apparently the G70 sport model has the same engine but its quicker off the line.

Can't wait to see a shoot out between these 2 cars and the german rivals.

Edit: video for reference

So I dropped by the Richmond Kia dealership today before work.

Sat in the Stinger GT, went for a test drive. Loved the car. Amazingly quick and comfy, but yet practical. Price killed me though. Can't afford it, even if I traded in the stang.

But apparently, they just added a Kia Stinger 2.0 GT line, starting at $39,999.
Doesn't make as much power as the V6 twin turbo, but decent enough, at around 260 hp.

4-banger and 3700 lbs chassis..? fine for grand touring but I don't know how sporty that would be especially if you're limited to A/T

I think that model reaches out to those, who want the aspects/features of the Stinger, but don't need the power.

It'll be a good competitor to the WRX.

Estimated 0-60mph is about 6 secs, whereas the V6 is 4.7 secs.

USA version also receive the RWD version, whereas Canada only gets the AWD trims.

twitchyzero 08-29-2018 11:59 PM

wrx will feel very different being 400-500 lbs lighter
this is a compact luxury saloon...not an econobox with a tuned motor

A guy at my work has had a Stinger for a while and he still loves it, V6 AWD I think. He went from an Infiniti to the Stinger and says it isn't as quiet as he would like but is fun to drive. Him having that has made me seriously consider going from my 3 series to the G70.

Shameless plug:

imo the stinger is an pretty good vehicle overall, but I would wait for some to saturate the market then buy a used one as it's going to drop in price.

Or keep nagging the dealership to sell you their demo... lol

When it retails for almost $75k with in it is. I wouldn't pay that much for a Hyundai but for $51k, it's a good deal for any V8 luxury car.

twitchyzero 08-31-2018 01:58 AM

Canadian msrp for the fully loaded trim was 62k, no?

No, it is $50K plus PDI etc. VERY good deal considering the features and performance.

Sorry, left out the word tax. It should've read "When it retails for almost $75k with tax in it is." Can't remember what it cost originally but the current G80 V8 is $65k. Same car.

I was considering the Stinger for my next car but I think I like the G70 more. Then again, the more I drive the V8 the more I really want to stick with a NA V8.

Your car is a lot more comfortable than the Stinger, the longer wheelbase helps a lot.

roastpuff 08-31-2018 01:15 PM

The G70 feels a lot snugger than the Stinger or Genesis/G80, due to shorter wheelbase.

The trunk was also surprisingly small, though it does have a spacesaver spare instead of an inflation kit.
