Chances of getting into SFU?

Graduating high school, and thinking of going to SFU. I understand that there is a HS average thread, but everyone there seems to be going into kin.
My original plan was to get into Beedie, but my marks suffered and ended up at 84%..
I know i probably have no chances of getting into Beedie since my supplemental isnt that great either ( just work, and volunteer work)
But do you guys think i can get into SFU arts for Economics atleast?

*Edit: Just heard back from my online course. My averages now sit at 89% for term 1, and 86.75% for term 2

lol got accepted

I feel as if 85% is slightly too high for arts though. Just going to pray

I don't believe there is a supplemental portion for arts. Just note that a lot of people go for the econ transfer to beedie route and find themselves getting stuck in econ. In my opinion it's not that hard to get into beedie, people just don't try hard enough. I think 84 is good enough to get into arts but it is on the lower end so don't quote me on that.

Go to UBC. I heard that SFU Burnaby's campus is very draining and boring.

It's not always about the marks, you work + volunteer that's already a good start to your supplemental. Spend some quality time on thinking and writing the supplemental for Beedie application.

I got into arts twice thinking ill transfer from arts to Beedie. But decided to just go langara to Beedie. Lower price easier classes apparently and no one hour bus.

SFU is literally a 15 minute bus ride away. Was thinking of transferring from arts->Beedie like some of my friends. I have an above average supplemental i would say, its just my mark that seems to be anchoring me down.

Just don't get stuck in arts if you go that route, unless you like it though then that's fine. If you go through the college route at least you'll still graduate with a business degree. Good luck

Like others have said, it's not as easy as you think to transfer from arts -> Beedie. Many people I knew got stuck and ended up just doing Business minors.

I would say for the majority, yes. That's why so many people are stuck in arts (or whatever faculty) like others have mentioned.

It's definitely do-able though. Just learn to prioritize and time management.

a 3.07 gpa definitely sounds doable, i'll just have to put in the work. If only I didnt fuck around for the last bit of the term... how does one drop from 87% avg to 84 in 8 days

Just a heads up, University courses are way harder than what you might imagine. Even vs college courses/hs courses. Im in UBC and I can tell SFU will be the exact same in terms of the rise in difficulty. So think about what you're doing and have the right mindset. It's not impossible, just have the right mentality.

HA, that's what I said before I entered university. Heck, I still say that every semester. My GPA is nowhere close though. Thank god I got into Beedie straight from high school, and didn't have to worry about transferring.

To give you a rough idea, the class average for 1st year business required courses is about a 2.3-2.5, GPA wise. So you pretty much have to be in the top 25% if you want a 3.0 Average. Keep in mind you're competing with people already in Business, AND the shit load of people trying to get into business.

I feel like you guys are making it seem harder than it is to get a 3.07. Keep in mind this is only slightly higher than a B average and that the 100/200 level business courses are generally pretty easy (perhaps unpopular opinion). My advice would be to aim for A's (3.66+) on the 4 credit courses so you can relax a bit and settle for C+/B-'s on other ones.
