Anime: Anyone remember Patlabor?

I remember watching this on VHS fansub a long time ago and almost forgot about it and then I stumbled across this... There is a live action TV series being made in Japan based on the original coming soon:

Live-Action Patlabor's Premiere Dates, Visuals Unveiled - News - Anime News Network

[EDIT] website: THE NEXT GENERATION ??????

same here. the article mentions that they have changed all the character names, and there is only an SV2 now... still, with a budget in the millions i am optimistically hopeful.

should michael bay get involved?

I don't think the jokes and storyline translated well in the live action version, not to mention the pace proceeded too slow for such a short run.

At least we know what happened to the original team.

I like the tribute it played to Gundam in one of the episodes, but holy crap that's all lot of staff to service those 2 "labors"
