https://www.livingsocial.com/deals/1...h-card-coupons

just bought this for myself, sent the coupons to point roberts, going to see if i can activate the membership tomorrow

seems like a great deal wanted to share to all

FerrariEnzo 02-06-2014 10:33 PM

costco can be used in US and CAD?
or is it only for US costco?

cho 02-06-2014 10:34 PM

i've read through the fine print, nothing about not working in canada

going to try to redeem tomorrow, will let rs know then

Lomac 02-06-2014 10:38 PM

I've used my Canadian Costco membership in the USA countless times, so I see no reason why an American membership wouldn't work up here.

Edit: Costco membership is valid worldwide.

cho 02-06-2014 11:01 PM

just checked the confirmation email

'Redeemable at the membership counter at Costco locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. "

i'm still going to try regardless, maybe hold out until then

ShanghaiKid 02-06-2014 11:07 PM

yes, costco memberships apply worldwide and are interchangeable between countries

source: I work there

I've renewed my membership in the US before because it's actually cheaper since you dont pay tax on it.

v_tec 02-07-2014 08:38 AM

My Canadian Costco membership even worked in Japan and Taiwan. Definitely worldwide.

here's how you actually get a free costco membership. buy gift cards.

walk in and use it. done. no fees no membership. and you aren't limited to how much is on the gift card.

/executive member who buys gift cards for cheap ass family members.

Ch28 02-07-2014 12:59 PM

I'd think the worst case scenario would require you to just drive to the Costco in Bellingham and activate your membership there.

Can a non member purchase a gift card? and I heard that you can just pay the difference with money

xxxrsxxx 02-08-2014 10:42 AM

I'm not sure if there's a limit to pay the difference by cash or if the cashier was being a bitch but she told me the most I can pay is $20 more than what I had on the gift card

no idea, always get'm at costco. my family has never had any issues with buying $200 worth of stuff with a $50 gift card. obv pay the difference.

maybe they are cracking down on it? but it's not like it's a sunk cost. get a bigger gift card if needed. it's not like you won't spend it.

320icar 02-08-2014 11:06 AM

No, a member has to purchase the gift cards.
Posted via RS Mobile

320icar 02-08-2014 11:10 AM

Also, minimum gift card is $25. So you could get a friend with a membership to get you 10 cards each with $25 and you never have to get a membership.

In the Richmond Costco it is a fucking epidemic. It's a huge problem that slows down our line ups and makes paying members wait longer.

Funny enough, in all of western Canada, it's only the Richmond warehouse that has this issue.... I wonder why....
