Mold problem

Anyone have a minor mold problem in their home before? Any tips on getting rid of it? Or can someone provide a company who can assess the issue?

Use to work in house Reno's.....IMO...most of the time,it's moisture build up,people kept plastic bags of clothing against the wall & there would be mold forming...

your best bet is cut out the drywall (if that where the mold is & insulation behind it)....then Bleach it so it won't return & kill off the mold from returning......worked for me when i tried this.

wear a Respirator too,Mold can give you the worse sore throat ever & Make you extra sick, days later....it releases spores in the air too if you leave it there.

What sort of mold, and where?

When we moved into our previous place, we found a spot in the corner of a closet where the kid had apparently left a pile of wet clothes or something for... probably months, if not more. Big moldy spot on the walls. We just cut out the drywall, patched, repainted, and it was good until we moved out 9.5 years later. If it's just something on the surface, it's not a big deal.

Just skimmed over thread, but try Tea Tree, worked for my washed yet smelly wool rug.

Here's a crazy idea: get rid of the source of the moisture.

Exactly, before you treat the symptoms you have to fix the source of the problem otherwise it's going to come right back. Find out what's causing it, fix that and then treat the effected area.

This.

Indoor air quality specialists such as ABM Environmental can be hired to help with diagnosis if required. They have tools for locating moisture, cold spots, etc. and they can take air samples that show the mold species present in the air and the quantity.

Sorry for the old bump but I have an issue as well and didn't want to make a new thread or post it elsewhere

I will be contacting an expert in the morning but hoping to have some RS suggestions/comments before then

So we're in the midst of some summer cleaning and were about to do some painting (well hoping to) and began clearing what was essentially a storage room

I moved a heavy bookcase out of the way and found this

Spoiler!

I don't see moisture getting to the area from inside the room as nothing wet is/has been placed in there especially near the bookcase

So I'm assuming the moisture has come from a leak from the outside and the affected area is also where we had a gutter drain problem in the past that has long been fixed

IRL the area is much more Brown than the pictures show and I'm wondering if this is what's referred to as Brown mold? (not nearly as toxic as black mold)

Either way i'll be calling someone in the morning

thanks
