Interesting. I don't really dig on the power delivery in my STi. Yeah, it's fast I guess. Good on highways and whatnot but it suffers down low and falls off fast up top. The ITR is so completely different and wonderful(yeah, I said wonderful) in the way it connects you to the car and the power delivery. The modulation and control is far better than any car I've ever driven(beside some P cars)

....a little off topic but fuck it!

You have to remember that your STI is a horizontally opposed boxer motor and as such, will have unique challenges and characteristics as engineering and physics dictate the outcomes.

Your ITR on the other hand, is a completely different motor. The two aren't a fair comparison. Let alone the AWD vs. FWD layout.

Modulation and control - N/A (in most cases) is best.

Oh for sure. Was more comparing with owned cars; like westopher with a FWD turbo GTI and a RWD N/A E36. To make it fair I'll compare 230whp N/A ITR with a 315whp turbo'd ITR, which I drove years ago, and I'd still take the N/A based on power delivery and responsiveness.

VK45 swap into the Pathfinder, along with a properly working low range, locking diff, etc., etc.

But, frankly, even that probably wouldn't convince me to keep this thing past the last of the snow melt this year. I need to get back into a good ol' lowered car.

back from the dead... not a mod on my car though, but instead taking the 5.0L coyote engine out of my mustang and putting it into...

Good bump.

My previous post stated I wanted to Bore my 3.5L to 4.2L and go Twin Turbo with a 6 Speed swap.

I've shifted directions now, I plan on keeping the stock VQ in the car for atleast two more years. Within that period this is the goal:

Gonna be sending my FX down to AutoExplosion in California for a widebody Conversion.

After that work is complete, I'll probably start the process of getting together the pieces from a QX56, so I can swap in the VK56.

Basically take the 5.6L v8 and 7 speed transmission out of one of these:

And pack it into my FX.

It's interesting that others just threw out crazy ideas, and that's great, but once I get a crazy idea into my head, I can't stop thinking about it until I actually do it.

So although these are dream mods for me, it's also very likely that they will likely actually happen, since I'm out of my mind.

Horrific.

Before I started driving a diesel 1 ton daily, I had a 1/2 ton Ram with the hemi 5.7 and it was almost the same mileage as my FX.

The diesel isn't really comparable because I tow a trailer around most of the time.

STI is gone and in good hands. Now I have a 4Runner(not a Taco as planned). Would still like the TRD charger but really don't care for worse fuel economy and the premium fuel requirement.

Might be picking up a lil' sumpin sumpin this weekend and all it would need is storage space.
