so where do you guys buy yours, crossing the boarder is obviously cheaper and if im over there i might as well grab some, who carries is, im looking for the copper metalizer and black
You probably have to get the copper metalizer from DYC. Home Depot in the states has black and silver/gold metalizer though

Plastidip is a waste of time. I plastidipped my A5 wheels, looked awesome for a few days before the plastidip started peeling. It was a pain to remove as well because some of the dip caked on.
just used wd-40

left it on for like 5-10mins then sprayed it again and rubbed it off with a towel
took like a hour for both side skirts and i'm sure i left some swirls
nothing i can't buff out though
plastidip never again
nice for smaller stuff like emblems and wheels, not for the whole car

How many coats did you use? I did my wheels on my speed3 about 2 years ago now and they still look good. I even had to take one tire off (I had a nail in it) and it held up great. I did about 5 thick coats of black and 2 light dusting of silver metalizer.

There a plastic shop in Richmond that carries it. I have a bunch of black if you want some. I'm sure soundsgood would also carry some
dip is a dirty magnet. Would only do this again if I could park inside
you can dip using cans as well but its a pain as you gotta drain them mix them and then using a paint gun to spray it.

I had 4 coats. I also noticed the brake dust would cake on and basically turn the rim a bronze colour. Decided to just peel the stuff off. I guess if you maintain your wheels like wipe them down frequently it would hold up well.
Can a mod merge this thread and the old one? Its the exact same information being discussed... All of the answers to the questions in here are in that 20 page old thread...

Here are my experiences with plastidip...
So I used the regular matte black plastidip on my wheels - imo it looked like I used a "rattle can" or something lol...I really didnt like the finish. I decided to add glossifier but still wasnt glossy enough for me (I prefer like an OEM gloss) which the glossifier just couldnt do. Then I used a couple coats of silver metallizer which was actually pretty nice. So i recommend the metallizer or pearlizer and such. I think they have anthracite or something for glossier black.
Cleaning plastidipped stuff can be difficult, especially wheels. What i recommend is using a foaming wheel cleaner. Basically u just spray this cleaner and it foams to lift/remove brake dust. Just wait for a minute or so after letting the cleaner foam and then just wipe it off or just wash it off. This foaming cleaner makes things much easier as just trying to scrub off the brake dust with a sponge doesnt work - plastidip attracts brake dust very easily.
I also recommend you not to mix plastidip with other non plastidip products as it will make it much harder to take off. I used clear coat on plastidip and it makes it much harder to peel off - it peels off in little pieces so itll take forever to remove.
Spray enough dip to accumulate thickness, and it will be very durable. Did my friend's wheels in matte black a good year ago. Been through multiple machine car washes and countless hand washes, not to mention the winter salt and ice. Still looks good.
The finish is smooth if you spray the dip correctly. The distance needs to be correct, and the dip temperature and air temperature should be warm. Cold temp makes the dip spray pattern very rough. If I need to dip and it's cold out, I heat up the can in warm water for several minutes and that solves the problem.
Plastidip is fairly idiot-proof, but it isn't a miracle substance. It's not gonna come out perfect every time unless you spray correctly and prep properly. A lot of people that bash dip don't understand this. With that said, if you want something that will last a bit longer, a vinyl wrap is a better investment.
get a bucket of hot water and place the dip cans/gallons in there when you aren't using them. Shake/stir the product a lot and test out distances you are spraying from

So you didn't catch the fact that they don't have a shop with proper tools in your initial visit? Like you drove to their place in residential area and dropped your car in their garage after speaking to some trashy looking guys?
Anyway, this whole plastidip shit is a joke. Just another way cheap fucks invented to make their cars look "special" (euphemism for shit). Lol @ how there are 4 threads on the same page about plastidip.
Not a fan of plastidipping at all. The final result just doesnt appeal to me whatsoever.
Wrapping is a bit better, but definitely not into wrapping the entire car. Just some accent parts.
Nothing beats the smoothness of a well cared for paint job imho.
